As a documentary style photographer, there’s a saying that has stuck with me: "Shoot a wedding like a war and shoot a war like a wedding." This resonates deeply because both environments demand quick thinking and adaptability. In a fast-paced setting where everything can change in an instant, it’s crucial to remain calm and composed. A photographer’s ability to stay steady amid the chaos is what allows them to capture powerful images—much like a war photographer in the field.

The Chinatown Chinese New Year Bazaar is a prime example of such a challenging yet thrilling environment. It's bustling, crowded, and at times overwhelming, but it’s also brimming with vibrant moments that make for incredible storytelling opportunities. In this Fujifilm Documentary Street Photography Workshop, I had the privilege of guiding participants on how to remain composed, observe their surroundings, and use the environment to craft compelling images that tell a story.

After 10 years, I had the chance to photograph the Chingay Parade again last Friday. Despite the rain, the atmosphere was incredible, and the performers put on an amazing show. It was a joy to capture such vibrant and memorable moments once more.

It’s beautiful to witness family and friends who flew in from Japan, showering the couple with love, blessings, and well wishes. I find great joy in capturing authentic, everyday moments that reflect the happiness and warmth of family bonds. During my last trip to Japan, one of my assignments was to document the daily life of a Japanese family; capturing their deep connection and shared joy as they went about their day. One unforgettable highlight for me was the visit to Tsujido’s black sand beach, just minutes from their home, with the majestic Mount Fuji towering as the backdrop.

2024 has been a lens through which I've captured countless memories, stories, and emotions. As we count down to 2025, I want to thank everyone especially my clients whom I had the privilege to meet and cross paths with this year. I’m truly thankful to each and every one of you whom I’ve had the honor of framing through my lens.

A special shoutout to the amazing team at Fujifilm X Singapore —it's been an absolute honor to represent you as a X-Photographer (ambassador). Your support fuels my passion and creativity.

Not forgetting the incredible people I had the chance to collaborate with from PSS and SPD for the meaningful PFG project. It was an honor to be part of something so impactful and inspiring.

Amidst a busy December, I traveled to Vietnam for a truly meaningful experience. This trip was about giving back, as I joined Team 316 in supporting a local orphanage caring for over 250 children. Together, we provided new school uniforms, upgraded computer facilities, and a special Christmas meal to bring joy to their festivities.

During my visit, I captured photos of the orphanage and its amazing children, hoping to raise awareness and encourage others to support their cause. It was inspiring to see how the orphanage provides not just shelter and education but also skills training, helping the children build independent futures.

One memorable moment was meeting a young lady who grew up in the orphanage and is now thriving as a baker—a testament to the incredible work being done here.

A heartfelt Thank You to Emily of Team 316 for inviting me to be part of this impactful and heartwarming initiative.

I’ve always hoped that my photography does more than just preserve memories—it’s even more meaningful when it can make a difference in someone’s life or contribute to making the world a better place in a way or another. Years ago, I adopted a “give back to society” mindset, and it’s been deeply rewarding to see that slowly come to life.

I am humbled and thrilled to learn that the photos I shot for SPD during the Photography for Good workshop were printed on their donation brochures, which are now being sent to households across Singapore. Knowing my work is helping to support a good cause is truly fulfilling.

As a Fujifilm X-Photographer, it was a real honor to capture the 2024 Fujifilm Asia Pacific Dinner and Dance. The "Around the World" theme brought out everyone's love for travel in their outfits, making the night feel like a vibrant journey across different cultures. The energy was amazing, with so much laughter and excitement. Games kept everyone engaged, and I loved capturing those natural, joyful moments that brought everyone together. It was truly a celebration of travel, friendship, and fun, all through the lens of shared passion.

I had the privilege of leading a special collaboration workshop last July, organized by the Photographic Society of Singapore, Singapore Physically Disabled, and Fujifilm. Over the course of four weeks, our participants delved into both theory and hands-on photography, capturing the unseen stories within the disability community. These powerful documentary photos highlight how SPD has played a crucial role in helping individuals regain their confidence and reintegrate into society.

It has been an honor to share my knowledge and guide the participants through this journey of visual storytelling. Their work will be showcased at PSS from 14 Sep 2024 to 22 Sep 2024. I hope these images not only inspire but also raise awareness about the challenges faced by those less fortunate in our society.

Thank you to all the participants who attended this workshop and created a meaningful set of images.

My Fujifilm X-T5 excels in low-light conditions, producing vibrant colors and high-quality files. This helps me capture images just as I visualized them, reflecting the event's elegance and charm perfectly.

It was an absolute delight to photograph Akira-san and Mana-san at some of the city's most iconic landmarks when they visited sunny island Singapore.

Their personality and enthusiasm made the entire photography session enjoyable and fun. It was a privilege to be part of their journey and to help preserve these memories.

When I first met Samuel and Yvonne, I immediately sensed that their wedding would be filled with fun and laughter. The intimate ceremony they planned was not only cozy but also elegantly decorated, showcasing a perfect blend of style and class.
