The Temenggong Parties: official opening of Temenggong 18/20 was held on 20 July 2018. It was graced by Professor Chan Heng Chee, Chairman of National Arts Council and Ambassador-at-Large with Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The night's programmes were founded by the vision "Bridging Borders, Building Communities". In House #18, we have collaborated with local curator Art Apart to fill the walls with artworks by HongKong-born Singapore-based visual artist Yoko Choi. We also featured two local music groups – Ocarina House 秀华陶笛 and Music Love Yoga who performed and conducted music meditation workshops as well. In House #20, we had Voices of the World featuring the Cordillera Chamber Singers - CCS from the Philippines and Ireson Latin Band, a Singapore-based Latino Band. #temenggong1820

A Cultural Sanctuary Bridging Borders, Building Communities

Hillside 1820 is two historical black and white bungalows located on the slopes of Mount Faber at Temenggong Road. The centre serves as a conducive environment for the confluence of shared experiences between communities around the region to promote Singapore as an arts and cultural hub in an increasingly globalised world.

This initiative of The RICE Company Limited (TRCL) in partnership with Global Cultural Alliance (GCA) Ltd is possibly the first such centre in Singapore solely dedicated towards these purposes.

The programmes of Hillside 1820 comprises of talks, exhibitions, performances and workshops. It aims to highlight the diversity of cultures and how exchanges between communities of different cultural experiences and backgrounds can promote understanding and build cultural intelligence to foster a connected Singapore. Through these programmes, the team aspires to develop Singapore as the premiere cultural hub for the exchanges of ideas and knowledge that will enrich the society.
