As I approach my 47th birthday this August, some might call it a mid-life crisis that I have taken part in Hyrox again.
I’ve even been asked a few times why I’m taking part in Hyrox given my size—I’m a 100kg Gorilla! But what some see as a challenge, I see as an opportunity. An opportunity to tell people that age and weight is just a number. It’s an opportunity to tell people that Hyrox is for everyone! And the main goal is; when you set your mind on something, go on finish it and achieve it!
Embarking on my Hyrox journey over the past 10 weeks has been truly enlightening. Balancing a new job, adjusting to a new gym, and not being able to train at Metamorfitus as often as I would have liked threw a few curveballs my way. Despite these challenges, I kept pushing forward, though I know my preparation could have been better.
Reflecting on the entire Hyrox experience, I now understand what I need to improve and what could have been done better! My wife said that if I plan to participate again the year after next, I must aim to improve my time by 20-30 minutes for the 24/25 season. Challenge accepted!
A heartfelt thank you to my incredible wife and children for their unwavering support. And a massive shoutout to the phenomenal Metamorfitus community—you all are truly the best!
Here’s to resilience, growth, and smashing those goals! But first, I better shave off that excess KG so that I can perform better next year!

🎙️ NEW EPISODE ALERT! 🎧
Introducing the first episode of Kopi, Karipap & Kettlebells with Bo podcast! ☕🥟💪 Today, we had the incredible opportunity to sit down with none other than Kettlebell Virtuoso, Steve Cotter! 🏋️♂️✨
Titled “Forging Strength & Wisdom: Unlocking the mind of Kettlebell Virtuoso Steve Cotter,” this episode delves deep into the wisdom of Steve Cotter and explores the age-old question in the kettlebell world: “Hardstyle or Girevoy?”
Megat had a minor accident on Thursday where he fell and sprained one of his fingers and it swelled for a couple days (even today). Madly proud of this Sweet Child O Mine for playing at his recital. through the pain because The Show Must Go On!
I’m no influencer but just someone trying to improve on my kettlebell craft! You will see lots of jiggling throughout some of the videos which I post but believe me “Jiggle Today Strong Tomorrow”!

Megat’s drum coach asked him what song he wish to learn for his next drums journey. He told him “I want to learn Mary On A Cross by Ghost!” His coach messaged me and asked if he could teach Megat that song and I said Why Not?
But inside my heart, how did he know of such a band and that song “Mary On A Cross”. I then looked up the internet and found out that the track was originally released in 2019 but there has been a resurgence of “Mary On A Cross” recently after someone on TikTok used a slow version of the song to soundtrack a Stranger Things themed video. And I said to myself “Oh that’s how Megat knows of that song”
I guess with TikTok, old songs will definitely make a comeback and gosh, I really am old. “You gotta keep up Old Man!”

I must admit that I am tone deaf but luckily my children are not. Alya can play the Flute and Guitar, Aqilah can play the French Horn, Trumpet and Guitar and Megat can play the Drums and I am hoping he will take up saxophone one day! #prouddad #drummerboy #drummer

Movember may have come to an end but the conversation on men’s health should never come to a stop.
For this episode of the podcast, I would like to still celebrate Movember. Let’s create meaningful conversation surrounding men's health issues in the hope to that we can openly talk about mental and physical wellbeing and change the face of masculinity and push society towards a more open and honest future for men’s health.
Let’s explore why it is important to de-stigmatise mental health issues surrounding men and the importance of promoting healthy masculinity and encouraging men to express and communicate their feelings in an open and honest way. Men hurt too! #movember #movembermovement #podcast #funkyfridayswithbo

Celebrate every milestone! I’ve hit my 10th episode of my podcast and I think it’s worth celebrating. From one who doesn’t know where to start when doing a podcast and shamelessly asking around, I think i did well when I looked back at the things which I’ve achieved thus far!
Surprisingly, I’ve managed to edit audio tracks in audacity, played with audiograms using Headlinerr app, using the Canvas app to do my promo materials, tried restreaming my content to Facebook Live and YouTube, did a trailer like the video here and even did my first tiktok video and lastly felt comfortable listening to my own voice. I did sought help to design my logo and thanks to my ex-mentor Lynette Long for that!
They say life is a journey of discoveries and I am discovering more and more ever since I did the podcast! Mad respect goes to the people who went on Funky Fridays with Bo to be interviewed! Not only I’ve learnt many things, I even made many friends while doing it! This is Passion and I am proud!
My only hope is that my friends to listen to the content and podcast and learn something from it. There is always room for improvement and please don’t be shy to give me any feedback; good or bad! I will greatly appreciate it!
If you have any topics which you want me to explore, do feel free to write in the comments section. For those who are not sure what this is, this youtube trailer (which I had done as well on my own) is what Funky Fridays With Bo is all about!
