when everything falls into place—just a few from the other day when we ransacked an old vinyl shop. it felt like a day of exploration while chatting about music instead. we hope you’d like this little set as much as we do.

aside to .loon and , you guys are so very special. you guys gave love your very own definitions, and everything just made sense around the both of you. we’re more than honored to have been there through your entire wedding process, so thank you for making your stories and thoughts a part of ours. 🤍

Time, has always been an ambiguity that we try to own, but somehow never felt like we managed to. Yet we try, by all means and all mediums and it is, therefore, one of the most precious entity in this universe that we live in. It sometimes feels like time relentlessly slips through our fingers, and even more so in the recent years. We barely understood what happened. All we know is—where did all the time go?

The thing is, love and memories somehow supersede time. No matter how much time has passed, you know you’d always remember that moment when you fell in love. That moment when you feel warmth and that moment when you know your world is perfect even for just that minute. These stay no matter how much time has passed.

This is exactly our epiphany when putting together this blog post of Guoyou and Charmaine’s wedding, back in Phuket, in 2019.

Pardon us for not updating this space on the Internet in the longest time, and not writing. As all of us can relate, time has viciously caught up with us, and left us for a bit. But hey, there’s a beauty in looking back at materials from awhile ago, and still feeling the same feelings you did. Consider this a little test of how timeless wedding documentation with Kompactfaen is—we still feel the same butterflies, the same contentment and the same heartfelt joy we felt while watching the pair celebrate their love with the dearests and closests, on Racha Island in Phuket, Thailand.

Love is never an energy just shared between two people, love diffuses, love influences and love magnifies. A couple’s energy almost always transfers to those around them, be it strangers or friends, and it always shines through even in imageries. We remember so clearly how the love between Guoyou and Charmaine was shared between all their friends and families in such an empowering way. The abundance of love between this two shined and magnified how we live in a world of filled with more goodness than we know—there is love for everyone.

So, here are some images (moving and stills) from a really beautiful, beautiful day. We hope you leave with that feeling of contentment, of sincerity and of warmth like how we felt that day.

it’s been awhile, and we’re still here—quietly documenting love stories of beautiful couples from all over the world, and lovingly crafting visuals that best represent them.

how has everyone been? and how has the year been going for you? for us, it’s been a lot of exploration and experimentation. nobody is going to force us to improve but ourselves. after 6 years of being in this industry, it’s time for us to also delve deeper (gotta do what we preach) and look within ourselves. how can we be better than we were when we first started? where do we go from here? what are some of the mistakes we’ve made that we need to learn from? and, what’s next?

we have quite a lot lined up, and we’re excited to share. but let us just connect with the community here once again—what is one thing you’d want to work on for the rest of 2024?

Throwing back to a day on the yacht with Dan and Nancy—a day we observed how home is in your person, how comfort comes when you’re with someone you know you can completely trust and rely on, and how fun can exist simply within two people.

The thing about love and happiness is that you don't need to see much to feel them, and you don't need to work too hard to own them. Many times, love, kindness and consideration comes free, as long as you open your heart to accept them.

Take heart to love and care for one another, be it those around you, be it strangers on social media or just a passerby on the streets. After all, we're all equals and part of a huge support system that doesn't speak of differences. Love goes around.

We’re letting love and goodness flow from some snippets of Casey and Lynn’s wedding day. From photographing this pair in Tokyo, to their big day. We see how laughters comes every minute, how happiness comes in little walks around familiar cities and how love makes you feel at ease.

Holding space for what truly matters—the art of love is sometimes knowing to leave space for seeking in the unknowns, to leave gaps to be bridged and to foster growth out of uncertainties.

A lot like love and relationships, things are, more often than not, most beautiful at its natural state and when it’s completely stripped of all technicalities. Paintings, for example, are seemingly timeless as there wasn’t any form of artificial lighting to enhance any features. They are painted as it is, with the most natural lighting, and there’s a quiet awe in all that.

Looking beyond grand setups and formalities, we’re looking at the simplest moments today. Perhaps it’s worth spending some time appreciating the love that you have, for what it is. Taking away everything else around it, letting love grow and glow just the way it is.

The idea of “the place to be”. There’s never an event or a place that is an absolute, where it is dictionary perfect. More often than not, a place is made by the people in and around it. It is made by the interactions, the exchanges and the situations that occur during that exact place and time.

Some moments from our recent travel with Casey and Lynn, where they created their own “place to be”, their own safe space amidst the busy streets of Tokyo.

We sometimes forget that love comes in the littlest ways of simply listening. To put aside prejudice, to block out any noises and to take heart in being silent as we try to listen to the words spoken and the sounds of the heart.

Sometimes, looking at a good set of images is like watching a sky full of stars—you find yourself being at ease and your heart, it feels rested. The beauty of seeing a photo that tells stories, a photo that has a soul within, is that you see life in it. You relate to it, and you find stories within stories. When we look at stars, we’re looking at history. We’re looking at light years and everything in between. Just like a good book or a good movie, you can always revisit to find new sights and sounds, new inferences and new thoughts. That’s the magic of immersing, of digging deep within and of immortalizing beauty.

It’s been a long while since we got onto this space. Truth to be told, the last few years hasn’t been easy as we constantly try to challenge what we can do till it came to an abrupt halt. And we felt that we never really could recover from it. In the process of revisiting our whys, revisiting our roots, revisiting this garden of learnings and stories that have grown and blossomed with the touch of each couple through the years, we hope to bring forth new learnings, new ideas, and to keep this eden growing. We’re glad to reboot the showcase what’s been going on, and even more excited to reconnect with everyone here.

As we're almost halfway through 2022, how has the year been for you? For us, we slowed things down in hopes to create space - the space to magnify, the space to be present, and the space to manoeuvre through ideas and executions.

We're very glad to announce that 2022 started with an affirmation from - with the award of being one of the Best of the Best Wedding Photos, and now, of being one of the Best of the Best Engagement Photos.

The art of delving deeper and painting love stories in the best way possible is something that we'll always strive to do. And honestly, it wouldn't have been possible without the couples who've worked with us. Couples who extended patience, openness, and love to us. Every single milestone of Kompactfaen belongs to the people we work with, and the people who love and resonate with our works.

So midway 2022, for us, is full of gratitude and love. And we hope to expand this through the year and in the years to come.

We see how love brings forth comfort in every way. Be it a assuring smile, a quiet place to lean on, or a firm hug. It’s a place we find respite, reassurance and reverence.

The lightness of being.

There are days when we feel tied down, whether it’s the urge of checking items off a checklist, or just simply trying to live up to the expectations of oneself or the others. We tend to forget how weightless and how liberating life can actually be.

Like Sulin and Francis, we see elation, the simple joy of pure celebration and lightness through what may seem like a hectic wedding day. It makes us feel as though life would be a breeze to maneuver through no matter how hard things can be.

Sometimes, it’s just taking that conscious effort to feel, to embrace the lightness of being.

We're almost a month into 2022, how has the start of the new year been for you?

While some situations are seemingly staying the same, there are definitely new opportunities and blessings lined up. As with new challenges and milestones to achieve. We hope you're still taking pride in small wins, basking in little sparks of glory and living life fully in each moment.

Like this delicate moment from Adriel and Gen's big day - the act of Gen's parents gently wiping tears off her face. We see how love comes with thoughtfulness in minute details, how love speaks in whispers and closeness, and how love transcends in the smallest acts. Just like how joy, contentment and gratitude can be.

It's always the smallest things, that we can easily lose sight of, that really counts.
