Declaring Azraq Reserve a global park for peace

Azraq - A delegation from the International Institute for Peace declared today, Saturday, the Azraq Water Reserve a "peace park" for world visitors.
This came during a ceremony organized by the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature, in cooperation with the Institute, in the Azraq Wetland Reserve, in honor of the Society's efforts and role in preserving the Azraq Wetland Reserve and its natural resources and developing the local community.
This announcement is an international recognition of the importance of the Azraq Wetland Reserve, as a distinctive oasis in the eastern desert, containing treasures of biodiversity in its folds. It is located on the most important bird migration paths in the Kingdom and is home to the Sarhani fish, one of the rarest species of fish, around which various local cultures reside.
The Director General of the Society, Fadi Al-Nasser, stressed the importance of the Azraq Reserve, which is a distinguished example of the unique biodiversity and its role in the development of the local community in the Azraq region of Zarqa Governorate.
He indicated that this global achievement reaffirms Jordan's position on the international map in the fields of nature protection and local community development, and stimulates tourism of all kinds.
In turn, the Ambassador of the International Institute for Peace, Donald King, confirmed that the celebration is a vivid example of encouraging the creation of a culture of peace, and striving for all visitors to be ambassadors of peace, indicating that the efforts of the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature in the Azraq Reserve are consistent with the spirit of initiative in spreading peace and love.
The initiative aims to raise awareness of a city, town, or reserve's commitment to peace, sustainable development, and a healthy environment, and to find common ground for community members to come together to celebrate as a people their nation, their land, and their heritage, and the common future of all humanity in our common home, Planet Earth.
It is noteworthy that the Institute established the International Year of Peace in 1986, with a vision that travel and tourism become the first global peace industry in the world, and believes that every traveler can be an ambassador of peace.

Wadi farasa ❤️🇯🇴

This place is called the Lion’s Fountain, it was built from 200 BC to 200 AD. The top of the lion’s mouth and head has a water channel, and the water comes from Ain Buraq, and then it comes out of the lion’s mouth and pours into a large basin at the bottom of the mountain. This place was dedicated to thanking God for the abundance and fertile water at The Nabateans, and it is known that water was sacred to them and symbolized life, and this is one of the reasons that made the Nabataeans settle in the city of Petra and take it as their capital.

The village of Umm Qais, which is located in Irbid governorate in the north of the Kingdom, is full of archaeological treasures that bear witness to the depth of history and the nobility of the past, which made the World Tourism Organization adopt it as the best village among 136 villages around the world.
It was famous in the past as a center of culture, as it was home to a number of classical poets and philosophers such as Theodoros. It is located on a beautiful hill overlooking the Jordan Valley and the Sea of Galilee, and is famous for its amazing colonnaded streets, the arched balcony and the ruins of two theatres.

el-Jimal ❤️🇯🇴

Umm el-Jimal is considered an Arab oasis for desert caravans. It is 86 km from the capital, Amman, and is known as the "Black Oasis" because it contains a large number of black volcanic rocks. The history of this city dates back to the Roman-Byzantine era. It was built in an ancient Nabataean settlement using large black basalt stones supported by similar rectangular stones. Historically, Umm al-Jimal is famous for being the link between the roads of Palestine and Jordan with Syria and Iraq.

A file was sent from the Jordanian Ministry of Tourism to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for the nomination file for the archaeological site of Umm al-Jimal, to include the site on the World Heritage List.
