Get to know the mind behind our upcoming exhibition, Thaiwijit Puengkasemsomboon.

Thaiwijit is a Pattani-born artist and true expressionist with brushstrokes that are confident and unafraid.

He has a unique way of speaking through his art, and it’s this unapologetic approach that draws us to him.

Combined with bold colors and techniques, his work remains fresh and relevant even after decades in the industry, earning him numerous awards both in Thailand and internationally.

Dive deeper into his passions, experiments, and archives integrated into our heritage building, in the ‘One Generation Plants the Trees, Another Gets the Shade’ exhibition, starting March 30.

Since our opening, Baan Trok has always been a space for one-of-a-kind gatherings and events. Now with permanent residents, we’re excited to bring back the fun through our carefully curated programs, along with a brand new space for mingling with friends!

นิทรรศการที่จะชวนให้ทุกคนฉุกคิดถึงการกระทำจากเงื้อมมือเราที่อาจส่งผลต่อสิ่งแวดล้อมและความเป็นอยู่ของคนรุ่นลูกรุ่นหลาน ผ่านมุมมองของศิลปินที่ถ่ายทอดออกมาในภาพวาด ประติมากรรม และผลงาน Mixed Media ด้วยรูปแบบการจัดแสดงแบบไม่ซ้ำใครในบ้านของเรา!

“Sawasdee Ka Kon Suay / Sood Lhor!” (“Hello Handsome/pretty!”) is P’Maam’s signature greeting every morning, not realizing that she’s the prettiest and most vibrant person in Baan Trok Tua Ngork.

P’Maam takes care of our home with such warmth, not only keeping everything clean and organized but also filling the environment with jokes and positive notes that always bring smiles to our faces.

Plus, having been with us since we were little, P’Maam is like family. Her long history here just shows how much love and care she brings to all of us.

Meet P’Jim, a woman who lives just across the road and knows every ins and outs of Chinatown. She’s been here for almost 70 years, so who’s to argue?

P’Jim is a character. She runs a metalwork business and owns a Rottweiler named Mackler, which she won from a swimming competition with her friends.

Having been here since our grandfather’s time, she’s seen Baan Trok Tua Ngork evolve. She even attended one of our events and loved discussing it.

Before we left, P’Jim gave us a vintage metalwork piece she had won at an auction. We always enjoy her storytime :)

“I used to buy Kanom-Tian and deliver drinks there.” 

Hia Wiwat, the longtime owner of the Thai-Chinese café Tung Buck Seng, who has been a fixture on Santhipap Road for over 50 years recalled when we asked about his connection to Baan Trok Tua Ngork.

His response takes us back to the time when the residents of Baan Trok were known for selling Thai desserts and chili paste.

“There was a hospital across the road... and a pharmacy nearby,” his memories arrived in fragments, as he made us O-liang (Thai iced coffee). “It’s been too long now, I can’t remember everything.”

Yet, these fading recollections are our best archival records, as written or photographic materials from that era are hard to come by.

Delia’s tortillas are unbeatable. They’re fresh, crisp, and most importantly made by hand daily!

As Chef Diego explained, the process begins by grinding corn from scratch, imported directly from Mexico to achieve the original taste and texture. The corn is then mixed with water to form a dough called ‘masa’.

Each day, the team prepares these fresh tortillas on the comal (traditional Mexican wood-fired stove), ensuring they’re served warm and full of flavor.

The bar team prepares fresh ingredients daily— whether it’s fruits, grains, or even seafood– then processes them to clear perfection before serving.
