It is a privilege to be located across the river from Wat Suwannaram, a historic temple that has been around since the Ayuthaya period. Today the monks there pay tribute to the Lord Buddha, as he came back down to earth from a three month sojourn in the heavens. in 'Tak Bat Devo' the monks will place a statue of Buddha in a small moving boat with monk's alms bowl in front, signifying the feast celebrating his return and the end of Buddhist Lent.

The history of Thailand and its rivers are intertwined. In the 1400s Bangkok began as an outpost village under the rule of Ayutthaya. After a defeat to the Burmese in 1767, a decision was made to relocate to a new location and what was once a small riverside village became a bustling new capital.
To this day, we can understand why early settlers decided to build along this strategically located area near the river’s mouth – there was an abundance of fish and the wetlands were fertile – perfect for growing palm fruit, olives and other fruit bearing trees.
This location also gave rise to a unique way of life by the river, one that continues to see people traveling by boat, exchanging goods on the floating market or transporting commodities on a barge.
