Phothalai can lead to several meaning in Thai such as knowledge, spirit, happy life and durability.

Traditional Medicine School and Traditional Massage at Wat Phra Chettuphon Wimon Mangkhalaram Ratchaworamahawihan or Wat Pho, so you can see that “Phothalai” comes from a combination of “Pho” and “Witthayalai”, which means university in Thai language.

Phothalai has been founded by Mr. Kamthorn Tangtrongjit who is a former president of The Union of Thai Traditional Medicine Society and one of the academy founders in 1962. Besides, refer to the purpose of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. He compiled all Thai traditional massage knowledge from Ayutthaya or King Narai the Great era, rectified and passed on to the younger generation.

In 2004, the second-generation successor of Tangtrongchit family continues to manage their father’s legacy and makes it more nationally and internationally well-known. They have founded Phothalai Wellness & Longevity in Soi Yothin Phattana 3, Liap Thangduan Ram In Thra which is Thai full-service Potalai Thai Traditional Massage School, spa and center-based on massage’s knowledge of Jivaka Komarabhacca or personal physician of the Buddha. When you visit here, skillful practitioners will treat you with Thai traditional Phothalai-style therapy which has passed from ancient time.

In 2012, Phothalai Leisure Park has promoted service range and expanded the area. There are 4 zones, i.e. Phothalai Wellness & Longevity, Phothalai Golf Park, Phothalai Meeting & Events and Restaurants.
