Studio Lam

Studio Lam is born with the aim of providing a home for creative new music that exists outside of the mainstream.

'Studio Lam' started life as a ZudRangMa radio podcast in 2008, showcasing the heaviest luk thung and molam on the airwaves. In 2014 it additionally became an offshoot record label of the legendary party 'Paradise Bangkok' with a focus on new music being recorded in Thailand. And at the end of August 2014 a bar under the same name is born with the aim of providing a home for creative new music tha

t exists outside of the mainstream. Studio Lam bar is a unique space in Bangkok where high quality beverages can be enjoyed alongside a soundtrack of music from all over the world: from Kingston to Ubon, Accra to Korat, Asmara to Bandung. Both our adventurous live music and DJs can be experienced on a specially designed custom tube sound system that gives Studio Lam its own sound signature of audiophile sensibility with a sound-system attitude...

Expect obscure cuts and timeless gems, weaving threads across continents. From the bustling streets of Kingston to the serene landscapes of Ubon, the electric energy of Accra to the mystique of Khon Kaen, and from Jakarta to Sana’a, the journey embraces sounds that transcend borders—uniting Southeast Asian psych, Afro-funk, Middle Eastern grooves, and Caribbean blue beats in one sonic journey.

DJ Funkscribe has travelled the world collecting & DJ’ing funk, soul, disco, boogie, & rare groove 45’s. He also runs a record label that presses up original music on vinyl in Seattle USA.

Diana Ratsamee is a Seattle based DJ, producer, and radio host at KEXP. Her weekly radio show, Eastern Echoes, focuses on music from Asia and the Asian diaspora. She is an avid digger and collects international grooves and deep cuts from Asia.

LAIR (pronounced “lah-eer,” a local dialect for the Indonesian word of ‘lahir’, meaning ‘birth’ or, roughly ‘being born’) is a Panturan-soul/funk outfit hailing from Jatiwangi, West Java, Indonesia. Formed in 2018, LAIR’s music, lyrics, and its presentation are vivid, inherently gaudy (in a good way), and honest. The band takes a sizable chunk of inspiration from classical/traditional Panturan Tarling, a form of grassroot musical/performance art popular amongst the people of the northern coast of West and Central Java. 🎶
