_less (pronounced Underscoreless), a duo that always wears Japanese mask, featuring the dynamic duo _lilb and _mig-j.. It began with these two friends who made a band together in high school and eventually became a duo. They intend to make “pop” music that can reach a wide range of people of various ages. The band’s core concept revolves around the creation of an “alter ego,” a distinct identity that serves as a bridge between real life and artistic life. With both members juggling other responsibilities outside the music sphere, these alternate personas help them to express raw emotions unconcerned.
 
In just one short year since dropping their first indie single, _less rapidly known as a ‘must watch band’ thanks to their mind-blowing live performances.  ‘don’t u even cry?’ released in early 2023, sent shockwaves through the Thai music scene. ✺ YAJASU [KR]

Yajasu is a distinguished four-member indie rock band based in Busan. Founded in 2022, the band embarked on their musical journey by captivating the Korean indie scene through captivating live performances across prominent cities including Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Geoje, and Jinju. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant spirit of summer youth, Yajasu crafts a unique musical landscape that vividly captures the essence of the season. Derived from the Korean word for palm tree, ”야자수“ (Yajasu), the band name serves as a metaphor for their artistic vision. ✺ TOSH [JP]

TOSH is one of the artists who crosses various genres and expresses his own pop sense. In 2020, TOSH, who started his career amid the coronavirus pandemic and has gradually made his name in the music industry, was born in Okinawa, Japan.
With roots in rock, pop, R&B, funk, and current dance music, their live performances are very exciting. Vocalist and guitarist TOSH and support DJ Eiji Harrison’s performance creates the same or more enthusiasm than a live band.

From an early age, he was exposed to classic rock like The Beatles, Queen, Led Zeppelin, and became a guitar boy. After that, he was inspired by Oasis, Radiohead, Frank Ocean, Childish Gambino, and learned songwriting.

The 1st EP “IN MY ROOM.”, which was produced only with garageband, and the 2nd EP “Something’s Wrong”, which was produced after switching to Logic Pro, were both completely self-produced and featured in overseas media and Spotify’s official playlist.

✺ Ford Trio [TH]
‘Ford Trio’ aims to create their music by interpreting their expressions through new dimensions of sounds since 2018. From the love of John Mayer, Stevie Wonder, Thai soul-pop, and groovy tunes, the band started to fuse their musical background with other genres they’ve discovered during their journey from university to the very first days of performing in front of the public.

Have been strictly composed songs for academic purposes for years, Ford Trio was eager to develop their own styles and think outside the box. Three of them tried to avoid conventional methods of songwriting and figured out the possibility of how a 3-piece band would be able to create new compositions or generate sound designs to emphasize the mood and tone of what they experienced in real life and on social media.Inspired by pleasant surroundings and people, Ford Trio added hints of ‘Thai funk’ the contemporary sound in Thailand from the 60s-70s, and ‘Molam’ the local music from the northeastern part of the country that developed from blues guitar riffs .

หลังจากที่ได้สร้างผลงานเพลงเพื่อการศึกษา Ford Trio ตั้งใจจะพัฒนาแนวเพลงของพวกเขาด้วยแนวคิดที่ออกจากกรอบมากกว่าเดิมโดยการพยายามเลี่ยงกฏกติกาหรือวิธีการทำเพลงในแบบทั่วไปรวมถึงหาวิธีที่จะให้วงดนตรี 3 ชิ้น ถ่ายทอดงานเพลงได้ออกมาสมบูรณ์และเป็นไปตามที่วงอยากจะสื่อออกมาโดยเล่าถึงเรื่องราวอารมณ์ ความรู้สึกที่เกิดขึ้นในชีวิตจริงและบนสื่อต่างๆ นอกจากนี้เรายังจะสามารถเจอกับการนำเอาดนตรีที่มีกลิ่นของ Thai funk ซึ่งจะได้ยินจากเพลงในช่วงของยุค 60-70 และดนตรีหมอลำที่ถูกพัฒนาจากริฟฟ์กีตาร์แบบ Blues

Chill Qin is an emerging producer from Taipei Taiwan, labeling themselves as a ‘cross-genre’ producer. With a bold and experimental combination of ethnic and electronica spirits, their music no doubt crosses some boundaries .

Chill Qin’s unique blend of experimental bass music, sound design, combined traditional instrumentation keeps their sound fresh, making it some of the most enjoyable listening. Chill Qin made their debut with Muti Music in 2020, receiving much acclaim and great support.

Chill Qin’s latest album, ‘Wonderful One,’ released in 2023, integrates Taiwan’s local musical sounds with Dub, Glitch, Neuro, and other bass music genres, portraying the diversity and inclusivity of Austronesian culture. The album has garnered positive feedback from Taiwan‘s independent party community and was recently honored with the Best Instrumental Album Award at the 35th Golden Melody Awards (GMA) in Taiwan this year.

Tuesday Beach Club is a four-member co-ed band from South Korea. Embracing an analog retro sentiment, they are an indie band producing their own music without the support of a management company.

The band consists of Kim Yedam, Woo Seongrim, Cho Yongjun, and Bae Dohyeop. They officially debuted in January 2022 with the single ‘LOBSTER KING’ and released a self-titled EP in 2022. The band has received acclaim from TBC experts and critics alike, being recognized as one of the rising bands.

Solitude is Bliss, Yonlapa, สภาพสุภาพ, Migrate To The Ocean, Sirimongkol, Boy Imagine ฯลฯ ชื่อวงดนตรีเหล่านี้คงคุ้นหูแฟนเพลงอินดี้กันเป็นอย่างดี นอกจากเป็นที่จดจำ วงดนตรีที่เอ่ยชื่อมายังมีภูมิลำเนาจากที่เดียวกัน นั่นก็คือ Minimal Records และปัจจุบันวงดนตรีเหล่านี้ก็ได้กลายมาเป็นวงที่อยู่ในความจดจำของแฟนเพลงทั่วประเทศ
MINIMAL RECORD เป็นค่ายเพลงอินดี้ในจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ มี เมธ–สุเมธ ยอดแก้ว เป็นหัวเรือสำคัญในการดูแลค่ายและคอยช่วยสนับสนุนศิลปินเชียงใหม่ได้ผลิตผลงานเพลงคุณภาพออกมา ซึ่งนอกจากบทบาทในการเป็นกำลังสำคัญของค่ายเพลง เมื่อ 4 ปีก่อนเมธยังเป็นหนึ่งในผู้ริเริ่ม Labbfest. งาน International Music Showcase ที่ร่วมมือกันระหว่าง CEA (Creative Economy Agency), และเครือข่ายคนในวงการดนตรีอีกด้วย
ปีนี้กำลังจะเข้าสู่ปีที่ 4 ที่ LABBfest. ในการเป็นเทศกาลดนตรีที่เปิดโอกาสให้ศิลปินจากภาคเหนือ ศิลปินทั่วไทยและต่างประเทศได้มาแสดงฝีมือบนเวทีเดียวกัน การมีอยู่ของ LABBfest. ไม่เพียงเป็นประตูเชื่ยมโยงศิลปิน แต่ยังเป็นเหมือนประตูที่เชื่อมโอกาสให้กับวงดนตรีจากไทยได้ไปแสดงงานที่ต่างประเทศ
ระหว่างรอคอย LABBfest. ที่กำลังจะมาถึงในช่วงเดือนธันวาคมอันใกล้ คอลัมน์ Brand Belief อยากพาทุกท่านลัดเลาะไปยังค่าย Minimal Records ย่านสันติธรรม จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ เพื่อสนทนากับเมธถึงมุมมอง ความคิด และบทบาทของเขาที่มีต่อวงการดนตรีตั้งแต่วันแรกที่เริ่มต้นทำ Minimal Records จนถึงปัจจุบันกับการเป็นผู้จัด LABBfest. ไปสนทนากับเขาพร้อมกันที่ capitalread.co/labbfest
