Prepare to be astounded by the precision, delicate quality of the craftsmanship, and the sheer artistry of these fruit and vegetable carvings.

The craft is one performed around the world by people from several cultures and I'm familiar with similar work done here in Chiang Mai, yet these, in particular, simply take my breath away.

In some, I've counted as many as thirteen separate layers carved into the fruit.

The artistry of the individual who has is truly amazing, and I hope you enjoy this collection of photos in this album.

C.S. FLORAL DESIGN - An Intimate Wedding Reception / Part 2

For their intimate celebration, the couple held an outdoor party for their friends on the patio of their home.
Chiang Mai weather on that day was absolutely gorgeous, so we knew guests would spend little time indoors.
Wanting some flowers in select locations, the clients requested something beautiful on the landing of the teakwood staircase. Here the view to the outdoor garden is especially lovely both day and night.

C.S. FLORAL DESIGN - An Intimate Wedding Reception / Part 1

For the outdoor party held on the patio at the couple's home, I designed a cascade of roses and white dendrobium orchids, all set against a backdrop of silvery-green eucalyptus leaves. Installed on a tree limb extending across the driveway, it became the duo's "first welcome" for their guests.

Three white arrangements of orchids hung from graceful eucalyptus boughs secured to balcony rails above the patio.

On the bare branches of lilavidi trees planted along the patio's edge (aka plumeria or frangipani trees), small clusters of white orchids, eucalyptus and trailing green ribbons were suspended, where they gently swayed in the gentle evening breezes of Chiang Mai.

For this wedding at a Lanna cultural center in Chiang Mai, I used wired crown flowers in traditional Lanna styles, and added them to arrangements of all white dendrobium orchids.

Three separate areas were used for the wedding ceremony and celebration. Two, at opposite ends and facing each other, needed nearly identical design treatments. Above the rows of seating that faced each we installed a canopy of white fabric panels. A waterfall-like display of flower garlands and a backdrop incorporating the initials of the married couple were created for both.

For the waterfalls, I used thousands of tiny and fragrant jasmine flowers, all strung with thread, just like Christmas tree popcorn garlands. I mixed these with clusters of green leaves and sprays of white dendrobium orchids.

Columns and handrails throughout the site were wrapped with larger garlands and sprays of orchids and wired crown flowers. At guest registration, I created two arrangements in tall red pedestal urns, using white dendrobium orchids surrounding a traditional Thai, decorative, white stupa shape.
