The Ministry of Sport and Community Development proudly opened the doors of the Surrey Village Community Centre to the public on December 10th! 🎉
This state-of-the-art facility is set to empower the community, providing a hub for sports, culture, and development activities. 🏀🎭✨
This vibrant space will benefit a wide range of sectors within the community. Youth can enjoy access to structured sports programs and extracurricular activities that promote teamwork and leadership. Cultural groups and creatives will find a home for hosting events, rehearsals, and workshops to showcase and preserve their art. Entrepreneurs and small business owners can utilize the facility for networking, training sessions, and community markets. Seniors and other special interest groups will have a welcoming environment to gather, engage in recreational activities, and connect with others.

Today we salute our Architects who continue to shape our nation one project at a time!
World Architecture Day (WAD), is celebrated annually on the first Monday of October. This day coincides with the United Nations World Habitat Day, aligning the architectural community’s efforts with global urban development goals.
The theme of World Architecture Day 2024 is “Empowering the Next Generation in Participatory Urban Design” emphasizing the role of young architects in urban planning and development. The International Union of Architects (UIA), encourages young architects to engage in participatory processes, contributing fresh perspectives essential for sustainable development.
Particular emphasis is placed on fostering resilient urban economies where cities drive growth and recovery through innovative and sustainable practices. Key areas of focus for this year’s WAD include energy efficiency, waste management, use of sustainable materials and promotion of sustainable mobility.
These efforts aim to create environmentally friendly cities that reduce dependence on external resources. Young architects can also enhance citizen participation in decision-making, involve communities in the design process and promote the appropriation and care of public spaces.

Land Reclamation begins at Kings Wharf for the San Fernando Waterfront Project.
Over the next 6 to 8 weeks, dredged material will be pumped along Kings Wharf, San Fernando as The Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (UDeCOTT) continues to implement Phase 1 of The San Fernando Redevelopment Project.
Here, we see dredged material being pumped via pipeline from a Trail Suction Hopper Dredger located 2km off the coast of Kings Wharf.
