While the Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (UDeCOTT) has a reporting relationship to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, it is a private company that is wholly owned by the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and is responsible to the Corporation Sole – the Minister of Finance. UDeCOTT’s primary objective is to deliver projects that meet our cli

ents’ objectives using the highest quality project management and development services. Its critical focus over the last three years or so has been on social infrastructure projects including hospitals, police stations and fire stations. Within the broader context, however, UDeCOTT is responsible for developing the urban renewal of the capital city, Port of Spain, into a business and financial centre, and San Fernando for positioning as Trinidad and Tobago’s energy capital. Finally, UDeCOTT has been tasked with developing 13 major urban centres as identified in the National Physical Development Plan. The urban centre of the 21st century is a community in which the critical needs of the people including interests and culture, history and education, entertainment and government are met and balanced with commercial activity. The realisation of this vision
will create a rich urban environment comprising well-designed and managed public spaces, the preservation of historic sites, medium and large scale commercial and residential needs and the development of small business.
