On Sunday 25 February 2024, the world witnessed the infusion of 235 MW into the national grid, and there's more to come! An additional 235 MW is slated to join the grid by March this year.

With an investment of $2.9 billion (Sh6.6 trillion), this monumental project commenced its construction back in 2019, led by a consortium of esteemed Egyptian firms, including Arab Contractors and El-Sewedy Electric.

Celebrating Zanzibar Revolutionary Day!

In recent news Zanzibar and the Austrian company Pougex Energy Proprietary Ltd have inked a $1.2 billion deal for a 450 megawatt wind power project in an effort to achieve electrical self-sufficiency. With 300MW generated in Unguja and 150MW in Pemba, the project is anticipated to end power shortages and allow Zanzibar take a big leap towards self-sufficiency.

One of the biggest projects on the rise for the isles, again positioning Tanzania as the energy hub in of East Africa.

The mission will assess the protocols, terms of consultation, remuneration, relocation of impacted communities, and systems for resolving grievances. It will also evaluate the efforts made by TotalEnergies EP Uganda and EACOP to enhance living conditions and provide recommendations for further steps.
