The success of Rosebud Ltd stems from the infrastructure that has been established and developed by the present owners in recent years. When the farm was acquired, barely on its knees, many expected little to come of it, but it has emerged as the largest rose farm in Uganda today. It has been restructured, and today boasts metallic greenhouses, an ultramodern grading hall and modern cold rooms. It
has a mechanized and computerized irrigation system which is 100% hydroponic. Commissioning of the propagation unit in October 2005 marked a crucial turning point for the farm as this meant that all plant requirements could be met when desired and at a lower cost compared with that of importing live plants. The farms’ propagation unit is fully automated and climatised and the nursery is capable of producing 4,000,000 plants per year. The technical staff in this facility are well trained to manage this greenhouse environment to create optimal environmental conditions for each development stage of the plant, from grafting to rooting and maturity. Throughout the process, they monitor the relative humidity, light intensity, ambient temperature, planting media and fertilizer requirements. Over the years we have established strong relationships with our customers who include the Dutch auctions and other customers in Holland who enjoy our reliable quality and delivery services. We recognise that human resources is the greatest asset in any organization, therefore professional management is employed to oversee the daily running of the farm. The company has invested in a continuous training system to recognise hard work, enabling retention of the experienced staff by consistently rewarded them for their effort. This has contributed to a constructive work environment where new ideas can be developed.
