Brief profile
KEBLE Foundation is a community based organisation (CBO) that operates in Nama sub county Mukono district especially in rural communities.
Our mission is to improve the quality of life for children and youth in our communities through talents and education while promoting self-esteem in them.
Keble Foundation we do not discriminate in religions, tribes or any other belief in anyway whatsoever.
The community we serve has a population of over 3000 children and youth who are largely vulnerable and socially under privileged. Majority of these children’s parents and guardians can neither provide for their basic needs at home, nor can they afford to pay for their meals and other scholastic materials required at government aided schools under the universal primary education (UPE) and universal secondary Education (USE) programs.
Myself being a true survivor of the above pitiable conditions, which I grew up under, and after realising that similar problems existed in almost every household in the community. I got compelled to start this charity work. I studied Journalism at Royal Institute Bwaise but I decided to switch profession to try to respond to the challenges of our community by working with young people.
Started in February 2019 with 7 children and we used to conduct our trainings in my compound but we are now 19 members plus 10 Executive members / Board members. We have children of between 6-16 years, youths and adults, some of these are scholars while others attend our out – of- school programs.
On 21st September 2019 we held our official launch at Kibooba Play Ground on an occasion officiated by the chief guest Woman MP to be Mukono District Ms. Nakavubu Margret. This launch was basically to let the public be aware of us, know what we do, our aims and objectives to mention but a few and I am happy to note that the little money we collected we were able to pay school dues of children so that they report back to school for their 3rd term.
PROJECT PROGRAM
KEBLE FOUNDATION basically has 6 thematic interventional areas with an overarching arm of improving social wellbeing of children, youths and adults providing basic educations, skills and talent development. They include;
⦁ Children/youths education program.
This intervention seeks to help children whose parents/guardian cannot afford to pay for meals and scholastic materials needed at government aided schools.
⦁ KEBLE Events (Performances and talent development)
This program is designed to promote talent and provide emotional support to our members. This program uses music and sports, performances to create a forum of young people to tell stories, share experiences, and create performances. In these we do dances, mimes, dramas, films, traditional dances and music.
⦁ Community outreach program
This intervention is basically designed to give back to our communities by carrying out community work (Bulungi bwansi) like the one we carried out on the 7th September 2019 where we cleaned 2 Kibooba waters sources. So every month, we move to a certain place and we make these clean ups like i.e cleaning wells, slashing the road sides, visiting and helping the old people, visiting and donating scholastic materials to need schools, filling holes in roads and the likes.
⦁ Self-sustenance projects
KEBLE Foundation has the desire and determination to become an independent ongoing, viable and self-reliant organisation. We have embarked on craft making, tailoring, music and performances to create income to cater for administrative costs and school dues as well and feeding.
KEBLE Foundation continues to enjoy significant growth since inception, working in partnership with local community members, leaders, sub-county and local authorities. We have mentored youths with creativity and social workshops promoting cross-cultural friendship and the spirit of togetherness among them.
⦁ Girls only program.
This is designed to reach out to girls and young mothers from a variety of background to change their lives for better. The program brings together teen school girls and community young mothers to create a forum for participation and expression of opinions through discussion processes that provided them with important learning experiences and to join in activities that engage their bodies, talents and spiritual minds so as to be productive members of their communities.
