As a type of combat game that is considered to be relatively safe as well as fun, airsoft has a loyal following in many places around the world. Here are some basic facts about airsoft, including some tips on how to prepare for a game. Devised to be an example of combat sports that required relatively little preparation but was capable of entertaining participants for several hours, the sport quic

kly began to spread, and is today found in many places around North America and Europe. Airsoft enthusiasts tend to organize clubs that are referred to as meetings, and often structure their games along military lines. However, there are airsoft meetings that specialize in historical reenactments of famous battles, as well as some meetings that provide choreographed simulations for the wider community. Just like the popular game of paintball, airsoft is structured along the lines of a military unit fighting against another team. While the guns and rifles that are employed as part of the sport are very similar to the real thing, they are configured to shoot small airsoft pellets that will bounce harmlessly off the individual. Typically, when a participant is shot with an airsoft pellet, he or she is expected to voluntarily declare themselves to be dead and thus out of the game. Once all the members of one team have been eliminated or the remnants choose to surrender, the game is considered to be over.

Our Story

Airsoft is a combat game that is considered relatively safe and much fun! Airsoft has a loyal following in many places around the world. Here are some basic facts about Airsoft, including some tips on how to prepare for a game. Conceived in Japan during the late 1970’s, Airsoft was devised as a martial sport. Requiring little preparation but capable of entertaining participants for hours, the sport quickly grew. Today Airsoft is popular in North America and Europe. Unique to Airsoft is that you don’t have to be the biggest, strongest or fastest to flourish. The replica levels the playing field. Therefore, Airsoft is truly a coed sport boasting many professional, female players.

Airsoft is similar to paintball. However, the replicas employed and clothing and gear worn are nearly authentic. The replicas shoot 6 mm, plastic BBs that bounce harmlessly off an individual. Typically, when a participant is hit with an Airsoft BB, he or she is expected to voluntarily declare themselves “hit” or “dead,” in which they either need to fall back to their spawn point to re-spawn or they are out of that engagement, depending upon the rules. Once all the members of one team have been eliminated or the set objectives have been met by one side, the game is considered over and a winner is declared.

Airsoft enthusiasts usually form into teams or participate in organized military style “ops” that are intended to approximate military structure and culture while maintaining a sporting demeanor. There are Airsoft ops that specialize in historical reenactments of famous battles, as well as battle reenactments. Stronghold Ops is an indoor facility providing an oasis from which Airsoft enthusiasts can congregate on a weekly basis in camaraderie, sportsmanship, integrity and respect to pursue their passion and work on their Airsoft skills, teamwork and even small group leadership. Players can rent equipment at Stronghold. Loose, comfortable, long trousers and tops are recommended. Baseball caps, thin gloves and scarfs or Shemaghs are also encouraged for added protection. Try to work in teams of at least 2 to 13 players and mutually support each other while shooting (one element covers by fire while the other elements maneuvers), moving and communicating with your teammates. Someone has to be in charge with designated assistants to help. This IS a team sport. Leaders must be decisive! Even a sub-optimal decision rendered in a timely manner and well-executed by the team is better than no decision and is often good enough to get the “mission accomplished.”

The main object is to have SAFE FUN. Follow the rules, wear your protective equipment, listen to our trained Refs who have your safe amusement at the top of their priorities, and enjoy a culture at Stronghold that is friendly, fun, adrenaline-charged and escapes anything else you do in your daily life!
