On September 28, the Antiques and Museums group of the Acton Woman's Club will visit the Cape Ann Museum in Gloucester for its exhibit "Edward Hopper & Cape Ann: Illuminating an American Landscape," after which they will lunch at a restaurant near the ocean. This major exhibition focuses on Hopper’s early works painted on a number of visits to Cape Ann at the start of his fame. It includes over 60 works and an unprecedented loan from the Whitney Museum of American Art, the major repository of Hopper’s work. To join the Acton Woman's Club or for an invitation to attend one of its monthly lunches and programs at its lovely Acton Center home, call (978) 263-5275 or email [email protected] to leave a message.

Our Clubhouse remains off limits until further notice due to low hanging wires and a damaged tree preventing safe access to the house. This photo was taken Friday evening, after the storm.

Our monthly meeting tomorrow has been canceled and will be rescheduled.

Edit: Many thanks to the Herculean efforts of the Town of Acton, Eversource and Verizon for clearing so many downed trees around town and restoring services. We are so thankful no one was injured during the storm but it left quite the mess including at the Woman’s Club. I am happy to say (minus a couple of trees), all is well and back to normal at the Clubhouse. Our monthly meeting has been rescheduled to Wednesday, September 20th with a light lunch followed by a program featuring Appraiser Mary Westcott. If you would like to attend this meeting, check out what this wonderful club does, and see the historic house, please email us at [email protected].
