Baby showers are the most fun event to plan! Our peach picnic themed event was perfect with mixed vintage China, checked tablecloths, a delicious southern inspired feast and live peach tree centerpieces! And our new recipe, Smoked Salmon Corn Cakes with a horseradish dill sauce... need I say more?!?! 😋 (photos by )

After much discussion and prayer, we have decided to close to the general public for the foreseeable future. We will still do catering and event planning on a case by case basis.

This decision was made in large part because of the verbal abuse and threats our staff have had to endure for the last 30 days since we reopened. As most of you know, due to our small size and designation by the state as a bar vs a restaurant, masks worn inside by customer not seated were required for us to be able to reopen. But a few have taken this requirement as an excuse to verbally assault and in some cases threaten physical harm to our staff. We have had multiple people come in each day we’ve been open for the sole purpose of screaming at staff over our mask requirements.

I cannot and will not allow my staff to continue to suffer the ongoing verbal assaults and threats of physical harm by raving lunatics who think a piece of fabric during a global pandemic is somehow unreasonable or worthy of a rabid, steroidal level of rage. And as a Christian, Jesus' command to show love to our neighbors is superior to every rule, every law and every personal opinion, however misguided they may be. I personally think the God who gave us 2 chapters in the Bible on quarantine measures, including shaving your whole body, burning your belongings, destroying your house and isolating yourself forever, would consider wearing a mask to be a reasonable and logical effort to show love to our neighbors as the second greatest commandment, not seeking your own interests but that of others, so that they might be saved. (Leviticus 13, 14, Mark 12:31, Philippians 2:3, 4, 1 Corinthians 10:31-33)

In the end, no amount of money is worth risking the emotional, mental or physical safety and well-being of my employees.

For those who love us and have continued to support us through this difficult and unprecedented time, we thank you. Hopefully, the new year will bring a vaccine along with new and exciting adventures for us all. Until then, we will continue to pray for our community and especially for those who have been sick or lost loved ones to this pandemic.

Yes, you have to wear a mask in our building. If you sit down to eat and drink, you can take it off. If you get up and walk around, you have to put it back on. Our building is small and to even open, these are the rules WE HAVE TO FOLLOW as a BAR vs a resturant in GA. Yelling at my staff isn’t going to change it. Arguing with my staff isn’t going to change it. It’s health code and it’s also my rule.

I had COVID in late March. 3 months to recover, 2 of those spent on oxygen. Now I have to see a cardiologist. Lee was asymptotic with only a headache for an hour. Thank god he quarantined or many could have been infected. My husband and I personally know 28 families and individuals who have DIED or lost loved ones from COVID. My 15 yo niece is currently in the hospital with severe pneumonia awaiting test results.

If you don’t want to wear a mask, that’s fine. Go elsewhere. But you WILL NOT abuse my staff because they are following my rules. And my rules are based on science, medicine, personal experience and health code.

At the end of this crisis, my conscience will be clean because I know I did the best I could to protect my staff and my guests from a deadly global pandemic and to put safety and health above profit. I followed the instruction of Jesus when he said to show love to our neighbors as the second greatest commandment (Mark 12:31), not seeking my own advantage but that of the many so that they might be saved (1 Cor 10:31-33) and to follow the instructions of government or stand in opposition to god himself. (Romans 13:1-4)

So this happened....again. 😃 (It’s our 5th one. We’ve never had less than a 100 since we opened!)

WE ARE OPEN.

Just so everyone knows. We lost 100% of our beer, food and mixers in the 5 month shut down and I am not replacing it all right now. If anyone has a problem with the decisions I make, you call or message me. I’ll be happy to explain it to you. Do NOT take it out on my staff. I get the world is crazy and things are stressful but I have NEVER tolerated treating my waitstaff like dirt and I’m not starting now.

For those that are respectful and polite, THANK YOU. For those that are not, do not come in my building. You won’t like the response you’re going to get.

Thank you for coming to my Mary Beth talk. You may resume your normal Saturday night shenanigans. But safely! 6’ apart and WEAR A MASK!

While Gov. Kemp has authorized restaurants in Georgia to reopen on April 27th, BRIX On Main will remain closed for the time being. Given our small space, we cannot ensure the minimum social distances recommend by the CDC, WHO and reiterated by the President and the Governor to ensure health safety for our customers and staff.

Many of you have asked so know that we are doing well and our employees are being taken care of. We appreciate the positive messages and the ongoing support we’ve received from our friends and customers. We pray along with all of you for our community, state, country, and planet. Please continue to support all of the downtown area businesses. We’re all in this together.
