Bets for Pets, a casino night themed fundraiser for Angels Among Us Pet Rescue is taking place on Saturday, April 20 in Alpharetta. These are so much fun and for a great cause. Chip Hranicky and I had a great conversation with our Fed-Ex driver today. She was delivering a Chewy box Foster Jeanne's meds) and told us she adopted her dog through Angels Among Us Pet Rescue and it's our fault. 2 years ago, she put a donation in our donation box for Hrockin Hranicky Christmas Lights and then looked up Angels Among Us Pet Rescue and found her puppy to adopt. I cannot recall the name of the liter she told me, but hers was the only black dog and she loves her beyond words.
That made our night and rekindled the "why" we do the Christmas lights. Never know whose life you impact by not even trying.

Starting off my 2024 with sharing a topic that is very important to me. If I offend or hurt someone's feelings, then just keep scrolling because I will not apologize for this post. In rescue we see this EVERYDAY! This is why I foster, advocate and share to be the voice for these helpless animals that rely on humans to help them. ALL dogs that live in the Hranicky household are our responsibility and bottom-line, they are part of the mortgage, and we will do whatever is necessary for their quality of life. This includes both our personals and all of our fosters.

According to the SPCA and Humane Society, in the next 4-8 weeks, you'll all be seeing the "We need to re-home our pet..." posts. These are the people who went ahead and purchased puppies & kittens as Christmas gifts who are suddenly allergic, moving, having a baby, don't have time, their kids won't take care of it, didn't think they'd get so big, blah, blah, blah. Problem is, almost 90% of unwanted pets, sadly end up in kill shelters.
Allow me to break it down for you.
You didn't know you had an allergy? Oops. Don't let the pet suffer, buy some allergy medicine, if you love your pet, it's absolutely worth a shot.
You're moving? What city are you moving to that doesn't allow dogs? Bullsh*tville? You have a responsibility to your living, breathing family member to plan ahead to find a house, apartment or condo that will ALLOW your family member. Period.
Oh, you had no idea you were due to have a baby in 2 months. Interesting. Get a dog trainer if you're housing a breed, you fear might become an issue. It's also worth a shot.
Don't have time for ONE 15-minute walk, or to have a dog just sit next to you while you're home? Really? So they're better off in a shelter than waiting in your house for you to get home? Ok, perhaps get another pet to keep them company or look for a local dog-sitter.
Oh, you mean your 5-year-old didn't step up to the plate to feed, walk and scoop p**p? And this surprised you? I guess it's time for YOU to step up and model responsibility for your child.
Wrong size? Not cute as an adult? Not quite the personality you expected? Look in a mirror, how did you turn out? Should we send you back? 😡

So proud to be part of this wonderful organization! This is our 8th year fostering that includes 86 foster dogs (not including temp fosters). We have adopted out 80 dogs, helped 2 cross the Rainbow Bridge, and 4 current fosters in our care (3 hospice & 1 medical). In 2023 alone, we had 11 dogs adopted and are excited to see where 2024 takes us. Chip Hranicky, Greg Hranicky & I Becky Hranicky have enjoyed fostering as a family and changing that many lives. We are also honored to sponsor Angels Among Us Pet Rescue with our Christmas Lights and this gives a glimpse of where those donations go. This is our 10th year of collecting for the rescue both monetary & supplies. Thank you for all of your support and allowing us to make a difference.

December 31st, the last day of 2023. This is also the last night of our annual light show. All good things must come to an end. It is bittersweet for us because we love passing on the joy of the holiday season, but we also get tired of moving all of our cars every night. The sacrifices we make, especially when it is cold and/or rainy.

Today's Dog of the Day is LILY MAUREN.
This girl has been waiting for her forever family for over a year. She came into the rescue pregnant and delivered 8 puppies in her foster home. Sadly, she has been waiting for the right family to find her and give her the chance of her lifetime. She is 4 years old and loves her people (kids and other dogs included). She needs an experienced dog owner, especially those that want a German Shepherd. Please share her to help her start her 2024 off right.

December 30th and only a few more days until the 2023 light season is done. Tonight's show runs from 6:00pm-11:00pm. Now is the perfect time to catch the show since the traffic has dwindled down.

Today's Dog of the Day is EMILIA FONTANTA.
EMILIA FONTANA is a lovable 3-year-old large dog. She is a playful and energetic companion who thoroughly enjoys playtime. However, she tends to play rough and may be too much for smaller children and small animals.
EMILIA FONTANA is accustomed to sleeping in her crate but also loves sharing a bed with her humans. She is a loyal and protective dog, always looking out for her home and the people she cares about.
To provide her with a safe environment, a fenced yard is essential. This will give her the space she needs to roam, play, and explore while minimizing the risk of wandering off.
EMILIA FONTANTA'S new family should be prepared to invest time and effort into her training. Obedience training can help refine her manners and reinforce basic commands. By establishing consistent boundaries and positive reinforcement, Emilia will continue to grow into a well-behaved and happy companion.

Today's Dog of the Day is DALE JUNIOR.
DALE JUNIOR came into the rescue weighing 120 pounds! Let's just say that is way too much for a beagle mix. He is now down to 62 pounds and a totally different dog. He is 8+ years old. He likes to go for walks, play with other dogs and also enjoys just hanging out.

Today's Dog of the Day is EMILIA FONTANA.

EMILIA FONTANA is a beautiful 3-year-old lab/cattle dog mix. She has already worked with a professional trainer and needs someone that can reinforce that training and continue to give her more. She needs a fenced in yard, a way to run off her energy along with allowing her to be with her people. She takes her job of protecting her people very serious and we recommend no young children due to her high energy.

She is a loveable girl (I've met her on multiple occasions and is really sweet but must understand dog language).

December 27th and I have had a hard time keeping up with the date and what day of the week it is. Tonight's show runs from 6:00pm-10:00pm.

Today's Dog of the Day is TOFFEE CHIP.
TOFFEE CHIP is a six-month-old, labbie mix with soft golden eyes. He only weighs 26 pounds, and he is already NEUTERED - apparently that's a GREAT quality. He sleeps through the night in his crate and is also potty trained. Sounds dreamy doesn't it?
He LOVES other dogs! He loves his people too, but he is a little shy of strangers. He will bark at them then run. He just gets scared at first. Once he knows you, he is snuggly and loving.
He also loves to chase balls, chew leaves and sticks and bones, and play with his toys. He is a silly, goofy and clumsy like most puppies his age. Help him find his forever family so he can grow up in a home and be spoiled like he deserves.

Apologies for tonight's show not having sound. Didn't realize that the FM transmitter wasn't plugged all the way into the computer. We had a power outage last night that knocked out some of the control boxes that had to be reprogrammed earlier today in the rain. Back up and working now. Show will run through January 1st if you want to catch it one more time before this season ends.

CYLANA is a 10-year-old, female lab mix who would love to be an only furbaby. She still enjoys playing, but also laying around. She enjoys the company of her humans, 100% trustworthy when left alone and just a sweet pup. She is not a fan of sharing toys or treats, hence why she would ideally be best as an only dog.

Foster Cynthia Sara wants to take a moment this Christmas Eve to thank everyone that has donated to Angels Among Us Pet Rescue in 2023. This 7 year old girl came in as a stray to a shelter with HUGE mammary masses that has had 1 entire side of the chain removed because of your shares and cares. She still has the other side to go, a spay, dental and heartworm treatment. This is one of the sweetest beagles we have had the privilege to foster and so thankful that she had all her staples removed yesterday so she can enjoy Christmas without wearing a cone. This girl has been rotating snuggling with Chip Hranicky, Greg Hranicky and I. So sweet!! Just look at that face, it says it all. ❤️🐾

December 24th and our Dog of the Day is JASMINE WINTER.
Isn't she just beautiful? She is a 5-year-old retriever mix that weighs approximately 48 pounds. She sadly came into the rescue with another fur-sibling because their owner was hurt and could not take care of them. She is house-trained and has lived in a home with another dog and currently living in her foster home with other dogs. This beauty won't last long so get those applications in her for now!

December 23rd, 2 more days until Christmas! Tonight's show runs from 6:00pm-11:00pm and pretty sure traffic will be a little heavier at times so please be prepared for that.

Today's Dog of the Day is TODD PHOX.
TODD PHOX is a mix of a Carolina Dog and a Cattle Dog/Heeler. He is about 1.5 years old and weighs around 45 pounds. Please keep in mind that the mix of this type of breed make TODD PHOX very smart, high energy and of course because of his age, he sometimes gets a little over excited and needs correcting. He is a handsome dog and actually was name after TODD in the Disney movie "The Fox and the Hound". See, he came into the rescue with a beagle that has already been adopted. They were the only 2 dogs at a very rural shelter so we couldn't leave one of them behind. Chip Hranicky and I both have meet TODD PHOX at a couple of adoption events and he is such a stunning dog and really a good boy. It is TODD PHOX's turn to find his forever family. Can you help him by either adopting him and/or sharing to change his luck?

Today's Dog of the Day is PETUNIA FAYE.
PETUNIA FAYE is a 5-year-old, boxer/mastiff mix that weighs in at 74 pounds. She is a beautiful brindle with the best personality. She enjoys playing and snuggling, gets along with other dogs, potty trained, walks great on a leash and just overall perfect. Where are our big dog lovers who would love to make her the new addition to the family?

ADOPTED!!

December 21st and the weather outside is frightful - at least if you are not a fan of the cold. We are now officially in the "peak of the season" and traffic is a bit heavier. Tonight's show runs from 6:00pm-10:00pm.

Today's Dog of the Day is NYLAA (I just love her eyes that match her coat).
Are you looking for a snuggle buddy and constant companion? NYLAA is your girl! NYLAA is a 3-year-old, pittie mixed-breed, at a perfect size of 50 pounds. She is 100% house trained and crate trained, loves to play with other dogs, and absolutely LOVES children! She is medium energy - she would love a fenced yard to do her zoomies and sunbathe (though a fenced yard is not a requirement). She also loves leash walks. She is also very happy to lay on the couch and watch TV with her people or sit at your feet while you work.
NYLAA takes a little while to warm up to new people that come into her home (she will bark at them initially), but once she's comfortable, she is truly everyone's best friend! NYLAA needs a family that can be patient with her when new people come over, but the good news is she doesn't mind the crate at all, so she can easily be put up when a repair person comes, etc. NYLAA does excellent when meeting people and other dogs outside the home (vet, walks, parks, etc.). NYLAA currently lives with a 5-year-old and 9-year-old child, and she absolutely adores them. She prefers to sleep in bed with one of her humans!

DENALY is a 2.5-year-old male Great Pyrenees with a heart full of love and an insatiable craving for car rides and belly rubs! DENALY is a gentle giant who adores being around people, and he's on a quest to find his furever family. He is loyal, enjoys roaming the fenced backyard and also being with his people. He is a handsome boy, but please research the breed to be familiar with the traits of this breed because they do need a "job" because they live to serve and protect their own. Please share this stunning boy and help him find his home before Christmas!

Today's Dog of the Day is CRYSTAL MARIE:
CRYSTAL MARIE had an owner who loved her, but sadly passed away. She was fortunate to become an Angels Among Us Pet Rescue dog who is now in a loving foster home. She is a little over 6 years old, 28 pounds and listed as a beagle mix. She is a "little" chunky and will be on a diet to help shed some pounds along with getting some exercise. She is a sweet, happy girl that loves all humans and gets along with other dogs. Please share this beautiful girl and help her find her new family.

(As a side note - she was going to be a Hranicky perm foster, but the 2-week temp foster fell in love with her and asked if she could be the perm foster). So to say, this girl maybe a little extra special would be an understatement.

ESKIMO POM is just under 2 years old and only 14 pounds. ESKIMO POM is a Pomeranian/Spitz "designer" mix. He loves to make you smile and laugh and is overall just a happy dog. Isn't he just the cutest fluffball? He will need someone to give him the love and attention he deserves along with making sure his coat stays brushed. Get those apps in now for this boy - he won't last long!

Something extra special (and exciting) happened today! LOLLY ROSE was adopted by the most amazing family! LOLLY ROSE spent 764 days with us going from a feral scared dog, didn't have a clue on how to be a dog, receive attention and was scared of anything and everything. She has been 2+ years in the making and this family will take it from here. Been receiving updates all day since we dropped her off and LOLLY ROSE is progressing nicely. She is going to have her own human sister and a Mom & Dad that will give her everything she needs. Most important is that they will love her unconditionally for who she is and will help her continue to blossom into the beautiful girl that she is. Only up from here!

This right here is the why we foster - it's changes and touches so many lives. Happy tails Sweet Lolly - we will never forget you!

December 17th and a really busy day around here. We got our long-time foster LOLLY ROSE adopted today after staying with us for 764 days and is now in her own forever home! This has been such an exciting day, plus a doctor visit for me, so now just getting around to our daily post. Today's show runs from 6:00pm-10:00pm.

Today's Dog of the Day is RUTH IRIS. Isn't she just adorable in her pajamas?!?! RUTH IRIS is 5 1/2 years old, 29-pound pitbull mix. She is an extra special girl that needs a person/family that understands her needs. She NEEDS to be able to be with them everywhere - couch, bed, chair, etc. She's the most lovable cuddliest hot mess there ever was.
