Schafer Century Barn is a beautiful, rustic event venue in Adair, IA, located between Des Moines and Omaha on I-80. We are a seven-generation owned family farm, with a newly restored barn designed specifically for weddings and special events. Our guests always compliment the exceptional level of service and care that our family puts into each and every wedding. The barn was an important centerpiece of our family’s farm for 100 years, and we feel that every wedding holds a special place in the barn’s next 100 years of history! We can’t help but feel our guests become part of the Schafer family. As part of the family, the least we can do is help your day go as smoothly as possible, and to make sure your wedding day is as beautiful as your marriage is sure to be. The idea of our newest addition, Schafer Barn on the Hill, was prompted by visiting engaged couples that absolutely fell in love with the Century Barn, but needed a more spacious venue to accommodate more guests. We remodeled an existing barn on another property we owned just about 7 miles from the original Century Barn, adding large bathrooms, a commercial kitchen, rooms for the wedding party to get ready, and even it’s own bar. Then slowly and painstakingly my husband and his team added a vast 54’ X 100’ ceremony space, made of full tree-sized logs and beams, along with artistically designed metal fasteners engineered by our talented local welding shop. It is truly a sight to see!
