As a 501(c)(3) our mission is dedicated to equestrian sport from grass roots to the FEI levels at Loch Moy Farm, and we’re committed to providing funding for the development of dedicated riders from diverse backgrounds to compete at the top levels of our sport.

We annually award MIEF Dedicated Rider Scholarships of up to $1,000, to riders competing at the 1*, 2*, 3* and 4* levels at the Maryland International. These scholarships assist by covering entry fees, stabling and accommodations for recipients. We also offer the Menfelt Adult Amateur Eventing Scholarship sponsored by Dale Clabaugh, State Farm Agent (Walkersville, MD) and the Merrylegs Junior Rider Scholarships, sponsored by Triple Crown Nutrition.

For FEI level eventing to stay in Maryland, we all need to support it. If the class you are looking for has a wait-list already, please JOIN the wait-list, do not enter another class and then request a division change. We are more likely to add off the wait-list, as opposed to moving divisions around.

🙏 Today, as every day, our hearts are full. We are so thankful for everyone involved with what we do here at Loch Moy Farm, from schooling and clinics right on up to our Maryland International, Championships and everything in between. None of it would happen without the support of our communities both literal and figurative. Thank you to EVERYONE volunteers, competitors, trainers, sponsors, owners, officials, our incredible staff, all the parents, those who give up their down-time to drive the trailer, you know who you are. And thank you to the horses. Without you, there wouldn't really be much point.

🏆 This year's Maryland International Equestrian Foundation Lesson Horse of the Year is My Big Comfy Couch (aka Sophie) owned by Suz Cornue of Destination Farm 🥳

"Back in 2012 when we opened Destination Farm, I purchased Sophie basically as an unbroken 8-year-old. Eventually, Marybeth Hoehn came to one of our open houses looking to take lessons, and started a half-lease on her. Then when Cyndi Hill moved into the area and started doing bodywork at our place, we convinced her to start riding. Over the years, Marybeth and Cyndi have been Sophie's two main humans. She also teaches working students and other lesson riders. Great lesson horses are so important!"

Who will win our X-Derby TEAM TROPHY in the spring? Our December 7 & 8 Donation X-Derby to benefit Gallop for Life is still open for entries! This is the START of the new season, with the current (weather permitting) series dates being:

🎷 January 11/12 - Pop Rock X-Derby
🩷 February 15/16 - Hot Pink X-Derby
🍀 March 8/9 - Go Green X-Derby

X-Derby Team Series Guidelines:

• Compete as part of a team for a chance to win additional prizes.
• Teams are made up of three or four riders.
• If three riders, all scores count toward the team score.
• If four riders, the lowest score is dropped.
• Riders may ride multiple horses for one team.
• Horse substitutions are allowed in the event of lameness, etc. Notify secretary of change in advance.
• A rider’s elimination does not eliminate the team.
• The top team gets prizes, including your names engraved on a perpetual trophy.
• Team must participate in at least two X-Derbies.
• Highest cumulative score wins.
• Logs/Crossrails Division is not eligible for team points.
• Email [email protected] with Rider names, Horse names and Team name.
• Team members must be declared before the January X-Derby

👏👏 Possibly the most coveted prizes - Maryland Flag Equestrian Prizes - donated by Dale Ganley Clabaugh State Farm Insurance, were awarded to the best scoring Maryland Resident adult amateur at the MDHT Highland Series HT presented by HCS, USA Saddlery & Fittings for the November Champs weekend (finishing on the lowest score). 🎄 Entries are now OPEN for our annual Donation XDerby taking place December 7 & 8 to benefit Gallop for Life!

Here's a bit of info on what we do, and for ALL of the entry details head over to our website and visit the Calendar page (or go right over to Compete Easy and check it all out!)

Saturday, Dec. 7th: Starter to Modified
Sunday Dec. 8th: Logs/X-rails to Novice

AND The Gallop for Life Holiday Parade Costume class for horses and riders will be held at noon on Saturday and Sunday! Bring your horse's best costume and parade around the ring for a chance to win some great prizes! (When planning your costume, please note proper helmets are required for all mounted riders.)

MDHT XDerby courses: All rings will have cross country obstacles you would find on a typical competition course. The objective is to establish a rhythm over solid jumps in reliable consistent footing. Optimum times will be posted.
