And there we have it. The youth and u21 events comes to a close. Our two couples took the floor last night and from practice to practice, comp to comp, they showed that moving forward in this journey is to make every showing better than their last. Well done!!!!

NYDF: Camp & Comp
And another camp in the books. We had Slavik, Meryem, & Eugene. Centers of awareness, perspective, & characterization. Def looking forward to how all the info will trickle its way into our bodies, our minds, and into how we look and approach dance. And now folks, we take a day to transition into the como portion of the week. So no post tomorrow as it’s the transition day. So I will post again on Thursday.

NYDF Camp: Day 1 & Day 2
Well all….we are two days into the camp and this year certainly did not disappoint. Yesterday, on Day1, we had Graham, Ksenia, & William. Body connectivity, Body weight release, & Musical Freedom. Today was Franco, Shirley, & Benji. Becoming the reverb, being organized and clear, & using principles to improv. Already looking forward to what tomorrow has to bring. So far, it’s been a great two days.

Sorry Everyone!!! I’m super late with my posts!!! Def need to get back in line. lol.

We had three couples in the last two weeks all rocking it. Mark/Sima danced their first comp together in Florida. It takes a lot of work to get a journey going and I’m so glad they took their first step. Then, this past Saturday, Mike/Luis & Anthony/Tori competed at Columbia before heading to NYDF camp.

Kiddos to them all!!!

Hey Everyone!! I will be in Nashville this week at a Country Dance Camp. Therefore, there will not be classes this Sunday, February 9th.

Therefore, the studio will be available for practice and training all day Sunday.

SORRY EVERYONE!!! There WILL NOT be class this Sunday!

I got the dates all messed up. It was brought to my attention that I finished the Samba Series one week early and the Cha Cha Series should be starting February.

So, just so we can keep with the original schedule as previously announced, we will NOT be having the 1pm, 2pm, or 3pm classes this Sunday. Part of it is because the initial class always covers the more basic foundation info about the dance and I know quite a few people were planning on joining our classes once Cha Cha came back around.

Next class will be February 2nd!!!

1:00pm: Cha Cha Technique
2:00pm: Cha Cha Theory
*Each class 50 mins & $10/class.

Therefore, the studio will be available for practice and training all day Sunday.

Empire Dance Camp Day 2: Well, that’s another camp in the books. Yesterday was a great day. We had Sergey, Toni, Max, Ruslan, and Donne/Heidi to close out the day. The Q&A was really nice as it’s always cool to see these teachers just being honest and open with things like where they see the dance world going, their inspirations, ect. Def going to enjoy the day of down time before the comp part starts up.

And that folks is how you do a camp. Today was so much fun. Benji took it home with a lecture on contact improv. Eugene and Masha wrapped it up with a Latin improv. Then a mock competition that was both solo and Jack/Jill. It was a blast!!!!

Great first day of camp yesterday!!! Looking forward to today!!!! We had Eugene(skeleton of lead/follow), Ksenia(versatility of rhythms), & Graham(same steps, different music, different mood).

Just a clip of the guest lessons happening today. Two of our couples had their lessons today and then the camp started. Michael M was first. He took us through a samba section and helped breakdown a process to create rhythm. Then, Benji S followed and taught us all a cool swing combo(no ballroom at all). Finishing up the day was Slavik K and he took us back to basics and talked how to use breathing to create artistry inside of the principles of Cuban motion. Rounds to follow and then we check off day 2. Looking forward to tomorrow already.
