Empire Dance Camp Day 2:
Well, that’s another camp in the books. Yesterday was a great day. We had Sergey, Toni, Max, Ruslan, and Donne/Heidi to close out the day. The Q&A was really nice as it’s always cool to see these teachers just being honest and open with things like where they see the dance world going, their inspirations, ect. Def going to enjoy the day of down time before the comp part starts up.
BDCamp Day 3
And that folks is how you do a camp. Today was so much fun. Benji took it home with a lecture on contact improv. Eugene and Masha wrapped it up with a Latin improv. Then a mock competition that was both solo and Jack/Jill. It was a blast!!!!
BDC Day 1
Great first day of camp yesterday!!! Looking forward to today!!!! We had Eugene(skeleton of lead/follow), Ksenia(versatility of rhythms), & Graham(same steps, different music, different mood).
NYDF: Day 1
Just a clip of the guest lessons happening today. Two of our couples had their lessons today and then the camp started. Michael M was first. He took us through a samba section and helped breakdown a process to create rhythm. Then, Benji S followed and taught us all a cool swing combo(no ballroom at all). Finishing up the day was Slavik K and he took us back to basics and talked how to use breathing to create artistry inside of the principles of Cuban motion. Rounds to follow and then we check off day 2. Looking forward to tomorrow already.
We had a fun class yesterday!!!! Got out instruments and had a samba jam session as we layered all the instruments together to form a base samba rhythm. It was so much fun and it was so cool to see it coming together.
Only in NYC…..FIrst day of the Brooklyn Dance Camp. First you was Shirley B, Paso principles and how to use them to dance. Marcus H. was up next, Cha cha, and how to use space and partnering to create a more balanced/competitive product. And finally, Eugene K, Musicality va Rhythmicality …how to create each and how to make sense out of finding the balance between. Rounds finished out the evening. What a fun start to the first day!!!
Day 4: NYDF
3rd day of camp!! And that folks is a wrap for camp. Had another three ridiculous lectures today. First was John K on the importance of feet and ribcage in ballroom. Second, Hans G. on how to get the most out of the bounce rhythm. And to round out the camp, William P. for the second time. And omg, he friggin brought the house down with his second part to the musicality lecture he started on Monday. Rounds followed and it was nice to see our team doing their thing.
Next two days lessons for Meagen & I and practice with the Comp girls.
Day 17: Part A
Well, we got up this morning. Took our covid tests to come back…all negative. Our last day is tomorrow. Here is a pic of the sunset we saw last night. It was just beautiful!! Have a few more pics I’m going to post to follow.
