Hopefully everyone had a merry Christmas. We've gotten a few snow storms, but nothing like last year. Looking forward to making some great progress on our restoration in 2024.

It's a wrap for exterior painting for the year. Temp well below and our first snow of the year is inbound. We put on 10 gallons Bear white "Whipped Cream" on around 80% of the exterior. The color is incredible and Mariah did a wonderful job of matching the orginal chips we had. Next year we'll finish up and apply the third coat overall. We sampled the green which will trim all the windows on the backdoor, and it looks great. I'm thinking we'll need at least 10 more gallons. Next big project is to strip the interior so we can have the church rewired and have power run to the church ⛪️. Looking forward powering up the church for the first time in over 50 years. It's been a trying and expensive year around our property, but the church is water tight and protected from nature for the first time in many years.

Record temp in the 80's have allowed us to start painting the church ⛪️. This was originally going to be a Springtime event, but this great weather has allowed us to get at least two coats of protective paint on before winter. We'll need a new ladder to get the highest parts of the church. We keep plugging along towards achieving our dream.

All of the hail damage has now been repaired!!! It's taken months to source building material. We had dreamed of replacing all the exterior with metal, but the scarcity and steep price increases post Covid has brought us back to reality. Upgrading material has cost us a lot $$$ out of pocket. We made a few changes, vertical orientation and Lexan over the windows. The original siding was ok, but the amount of work needed to bring it to orginal was out of our budget. The estimate to paint the church was way out of our already topped out budget, so we're doing it ourselves. Once the orginal siding was exposed we could see the color that this church wore over 106 years ago. The trim and roof were green and the siding was white. We matched the colors the best we could, and have started purchasing paint. The siding is pre-primed and with luck we'll have most of the paint up by winter, maybe. Next year we hope to gut the interior and get ready for electrical and first power in 40+ years.

For the first time in many years our little prairie church has a beautiful green roof covering it. We were inspired by remnants of the orginal green roofing we found in the back of the church. It looks stunning, and we're looking forward to getting the siding done next.

We unfortunately had some severe weather roll through yesterday which has damaged the church. While we're disappointed, this doesn't change our plans to restore the Last Chance Church. The South and West sides of the church suffered hail damage, and one window on was cracked. We'll see how the roof held-up. I've submitted an insurance claim, and hopefully we'll have her patched up soon.

Renovation of our home continues to be our priority, but we're always looking out of items for our church ⛪️. This weekend we picked up a pair of vintage folding church pews. We got a great price for them and they're in great condition. They will be a great addition to the Last Chance Church.

We recently purchased this beautiful kneeler for our church. We paid more than we normally like to spend, but it spoke to us. Mariah has some really cool ideas on how we'll incorporate it into our vision. Think of a beautiful prayer spot with candles. Because of our remote location, we won't be allowing any open flames on our property.

***It's not our anniversary. That's 1 January 2020*** We just renewed our vows.***

He said YES!!! Our first Wedding in our church! On the eve of my parents anniversary we see what is truly important. With Love, God, and the right person beside you; you can overcome anything. Luis and I renewed our vows this morning in our church. It was much the same as our marriage except in our church. The sister church of Abbott, Last Chance Church Colorado; cold, no power and no plumbing🤣❤. We had God's presence, blessing and peace and most of all Love. I love you with all my heart and soul my love. Forever and Always.❤🦩🌋💃

We're still 100% engaged in updating our home, but we still are coming across items for the church. We recently added 2 more stained glass windows from a now demolished church in Denver. To find 4 matching windows is a blessing and we thank Our dear friends Jack and Galia for saving these and making them available to us. We have so much work yet to do, but we're moving forward.

Spent the day working around the property. My son helped me swap out two pews I had stored in the barn. Also brought out some great items we've be lucky to aquire recently. Blessed to have wonderful friends to help us out along our journey. Remembering those that gave their lives for the freedom we enjoy today. Meaningful work heals the soul.

Been a little over a year since Mariah and started this journey to restore our church. I had a MRI appointment in Greeley and afterwards we picked up two more pews to finish out the interior. We met a fantastic new person on our journey. The previous owner is an ex-Army Apache helicopter pilot and combat veteran, turn pastor and business owner. The pews came out of a Catholic church in Lafayette, CO. They started out as a single 16 ft long pew, that was cut down into two 7 ft pews. While they will require some TCL to restore, they are solid maple and will look fantastic once complete. We've been so blessed to meet so many great people with fascinating stories that have helped us out on this journey to restore our little church. Thank you also to all the family and friends that have sent us sales postings and hints about church related listing. We're satisfied with our pews for now, but will always be on the look out for more. We can now sit 75-80 in our little church. We could do more with larger pews, but that's not our vision. It was built as a small praire church ⛪, and we'd like to preserve that small church charm. Thanks to all that have helped us so far, or that have lent us prayers and support.

We picked up some stained glass windows recently...they look beautiful. Unsure how we'll use them yet. Also picked up a traveling preachers Bible pulpit. This was a very cool item from a former pastor who used it for 30 years.

Been awhile since our last update. We continue to work on our house as construction priority #1. Mariah has found a great contractor that we hope we can use them on the church interior renovation once the house is complete. In the meantime we keep finding and adding items for our little church. Our friends at Heirloom Antiques supplied the beautiful wooden Christ Child and Madonna. The vintage handmade podium came from our friends a Search And Rescue Antiques. It fits perfectly with our church. Since it's on wheels, we can use it for receptions and other events.
