Artists and art instructors work with the community, schools, libraries, businesses, and the university, to teach classes in lantern making, puppetry, costumes, and work on collaborative art projects and installations. The results of these classes and collaborations culminate in a magical display of the arts at the "Light-UP" Lantern Festival in University Park on the evening of the event.

We are sorry to announce that we will not be producing the Light-UP Lantern festival this year. Unfortunately funding and time constraints have taken their toll. We are so grateful for all of the help from our talented friends, and all those who attended!

I found this video on Youtube. The same person did a series of videos on the night of the Lantern Festival 2012. The audio on most the videos is very low so its hard to hear.

Tomorrow is the big day! We can use all the volunteer help we can get to help set-up and get the event going. We will be starting set-up at 8:00 am at 437 Crouse street ( Don Drumm Studios). Please grab a friend and lend a helping hand!

This weekend we will be at Canal Place working on projects, signs, costumes, etc. We will be there Friday night starting at 5:00pm, Saturday starting at 11:00 in the afternoon, Sunday starting at 11:00. Hello everyone! Thank you for joining us this past Saturday-the Gypsy wagon is coming along nicely! We will be looking for help making signs, working on props, painting and other little projects over the next two weekends.

We had a little change in location and time for this Saturday's workshop. Due to the unpredictable Ohio weather, we decided to move the gypsy wagon over to our new Home base at Canal Place suite 432.
We will be starting at 11:00 and our doors will be open on into the evening. we have lots of projects and need all the help we can get- so please stop by and donate a little piece of your time:)
To get to the Canal Location go down South Main Street until you reach the end of the Canal Place Location then turn right onto Bartges, you will enter the first parking lot on the right. Then call my cell phone: 330 861-4701 We will have to instruct you how to use the freight elevator until everyone is familiar with the location and the elevator.

This Saturday September 22, starting at 10:00 at 895 Hereford Drive Akron 44303, we need your help! We will be decorating the gypsy wagon- painting, sewing assembling, decorating etc. Please help us! Stop by at any time, for any amount of help-we really need it. Rain or shine. Same day as Highland Square Art Fest, so work a little - go for some food and entertainment down the street, and come back:)-Thank you!

Good turn out and a lot of fun despite the heavy rain! We had a performance by Miller South Drama Department Comedia Del Arte and live musical performances by a drumming group. This workshop took place at The Icehouse Complex during Downtown Akron Artwalk! More pictures and videos will be posted soon!
Please join us for another Lantern Making workshop this Saturday, September 1st, at the Downtown Akron Artwalk ( the IceHouse) from 5:00 to 9:30. We will be preparing for this year's University Park "Light-UP" Lantern Festival. The workshop is free, family friendly and open to the public.
We will be painting, and decorating the Gypsy Wagon this saturday, and we need your creative help! We are looking for volunteers to assist with preparing the Gypsy Wagon Stage for this year's festival. It should be fun! Saturday, August 25th starting at noon -my place 895 Hereford Drive in Akron.
We'd like to thank Chet Hayes of Residential and Commercial Renovations and Carter Lumber for donating what is soon to be our Caravan wagon stage! We can't thank you enough!
