Our Story

We invite you to join us for our exciting transformation from Union College Concert Series to Capital Region Classical! The series is striking out on its own as a new nonprofit organization wholly dedicated to sustaining, developing, and ensuring performances by world-renowned classical musicians in the Capital Region.

From our founding almost 50 years ago as a volunteer organization run out of the Schenectady Museum (now MiSci) to a program under the umbrella of Union College, the series must now serve the needs of our classical music community more effectively. It must now work diligently to ensure one of the most treasured cultural programs in the Capital Region for generations to come.

What will change? Not much—we’ll continue to bring you world-class musicians at our home in Memorial Chapel. But now, a Board of Directors fully devoted to classical music oversees the series. It is no longer part of a larger institution with divergent interests and priorities, but a nonprofit organization dedicated 24-7 to the presentation of world-class chamber music performances. As a result, Capital Region Classical can better serve you and your devotion to classical music.

We look forward to continuing to share these incredible performances with you for many years!
