Yo! Chefs! Home cooks! Slashers! Serial Killers! This Wednesday, November 20th, 5:30-8pm, my homie Tomas, , is gonna setup out front of the restaurant to make your kitchen a safer place. He sharpens knives! This is easily one of my favorite businesses to support, a mobile knife sharpener. Tomas is a good person too! Family man. Dad to a newborn baby. C’mon! LFG! I’ll keep reminding everyone until this happens. $5 off any order with me on my menu if you come get your weapons honed. Don’t go into the holidays with dull knives. It’s not safe.

The biproduct of all this? I’ll be showing Edward Scissorhands on the screens that night. 🔪✂️

A while back my good friend with began bringing me Yellowfin Tuna on occasion to test on the menu. Making Poké seemed like a natural fit. This has been an off-menu option since. Last week, every other order was Poké. No picture or mention of it on the menu last week. That’s when we decided it’s time to give it its’ own spot on the board. So, here it is. It’s here to stay (as long as we can continue to get the high quality yellowfin that Mike’s been brining). It’s so clean! So healthy! So flavorful! Everything Hawaiian and Californian in the same dish. Come try it if you haven’t already!

I sold the OG shrimptruck for too cheap, so I won’t let that happen again. You’re not only buying a money making machine, you’re buying a small piece of history. Epic night at the restaurant last night! I really appreciate everyone that’s coming in. Old school customers and the one’s just now trying us out. Positive momentum..

We’ve realized Poké and Ceviche belong permanently on the menu, so I’ll do my best to make sure it’s always available. I’ve gotta work on adding it to the menu board, so be patient with me as that’s a technology thing I need to figure out; not one of my strengths. So, if you don’t see it, ask for it…

I’ll also have the Steak & Lobster Tostadas back on the menu today (Saturday). Again, no picture of these at the restaurant yet, this is how you know.

This might be the shrimptruck mic-drop. What a fu***ng ride! I started selling food on the streets in Oxnard nearly 10 years ago. The Oxnard Auto Collections area, I think it’s called. I’d leave stoked if I made over $100. I spent years busting my ass, proving hard work pays off. I slowly got the attention of locals breweries, event organizers, wedding planners and many more. That ballooned into an invitation to be featured on a TV show for the in 2018 (which aired early 2019). Then Covid hit. Then I hit the gas pedal even harder. I served in areas and neighborhoods I knew I had customers. You tell me No, I say Yes. I became known in my own community for selling shrimp at a gas station. What a risk! Whatever. It had to be done. I have a business to run and a family to support. Throughout the years I’ve served wedding parties, professional football teams, gangsters, the homeless, rockstars, artists, actors, the blue collar, the white collar, the greatest hockey player in the history of the NHL (Gretzky! debate me!). I’ve setup at wineries in Los Olivos. I’ve sold at Roller Derby games in Long Beach. I’ve dealt with everyone from angels to as****es.

Now I have a restaurant in Thousand Oaks. Now the health department doesn’t wanna understand how I can piggyback a food truck in conjunction with my restaurant (and still be compliant). It ain’t worth the fight. Too many illegal street vendors nowadays. I got bigger goals to accomplish anyway.

So, while I debate selling the shrimptruck or keep it for my private stuff, I gotta say it’s been a crazy ride. Nothing I’ve ever expected. Im gonna take the next few days to decide what the future of the shrimptruck is.
