Going to get really personal for a minute…it’s been 11 years since I lost my little brother and my dad. The bulk of that time I have been single and I thought I might never love again because when you have a loss like mine it’s more than scary it’s life altering in ways that I’m not sure anyone understands. Lately I find myself smiling unexpectedly and happy…like the kind of happy that reminds you of someone or something really special. For me it reminds me of life before. Anyway many of my photos are based on that feeling of smiling just because you are thinking of your person, or being happy just because you are at home next to them. I hope that when I photograph you, these feelings show through in the images. I hope everyone can smile randomly and be happier in general, life is too short to not live for the small things, and smiling just because is ok 😁 for those of you out there in the beginning of your grief, it never goes away but eventually you will potentially find yourself again.
