We're sorry to announce that this weekend's show is cancelled due to a Covid case in the band. We are working to reschedule it for later in the year. If you already bought tickets, your refund is processing today. We count ourselves lucky because we've never had to cancel a show in 8 years -- even during the four years since the Covid pandemic began. Please stay tuned for more music! ✨Happy Day, Folk Fans!✨

It’s finally time to reveal the eagerly awaited outcomes of the selection process for our 2024 New Folk Finalists!

What an incredible turnout we’ve had for the Kerrville New Folk Competition this year! We’ve been blown away by the quality of submissions, and we’re thrilled to move forward to the next stage of the competition. Following a rigorous evaluation of a record-breaking 1341 entries, we’ve carefully reviewed and scored each one, resulting in the selection of this year’s 24 Finalists.

These talented songwriters will have the opportunity to showcase their craft by performing their two chosen entry songs at Threadgill Theater during the first weekend of the upcoming Kerrville Folk Festival, scheduled for 1:00pm the afternoon of May 25th and 26th.

The Architect - Charles M. Goodman 1 of 2 The Sevareid House was originally designed and built by Charles M. Goodman (November 26, 1906 – October 29, 1992), a noted Washington, DC architect in 1941. Goodman made a name for himself with modern designs in suburban Washington, D.C. after World War II. While his work has a regional feel, he ignored the colonial revival look so popular in Virginia. Goodman was quoted in the 1968 survey book Architecture in Virginia as saying that he aimed to “get away from straight historical reproduction.” Goodman, who designed the original National Airport outside of Washington, D.C. and served as main architect of the Hollin Hills neighborhood in Alexandria, Virginia, attended the Illinois Institute of Technology. He came to D.C. in 1934 to work as the designing architect in the Public Buildings Administration. He later served as head architect at the United States Treasury Department and the Air Transport Command. After World War II he worked closely with Robert C. Davenport designing and site planning most of the Hollin Hills, where his firm, Charles M. Goodman Associates, designed over 14 models of house. Before the “builder houses”, Goodman designed more than a dozen custom homes for prominent people. The Sevareid House was one of his early efforts. While the photos you see are more recent it’s important to know that the state of the Sevareid house was quite different upon its purchase in 2013 …. The beautiful renovation and restoration process was undertaken by Cook Architecture and builder David Lewis.
