Golden hour timing

Did you know you don’t take your sunset photos at sunset? 🤯
Most photographers prefer the lighting effects about 45 minutes prior to sunset. Otherwise it’s a darker evening shoot!

Things to note…
1. If you want these photos we need to build a timeline that allows you to be outside at this time. We don’t want to be missing the bride and groom during toasts, spotlight dances or the grand entrance!
2. When you look up the sunset time… location matters
Sunset in Alexandria MN is not the same as sunset in Red Wing or Duluth. We always look up venues sunset not our own!
3. The exact time actually floats. I have looked up sunset 1 year prior to find at the 3 month meeting we are about 15 minutes later or earlier … this is why we check and recheck
4. Yes… some people are taking golden hour photos during cocktail hour. MN sunsets can be 4:30pm during the winter months!
