👋 MEET THE STAFF 👋
Hello! My name is Will & I’m a Camp Counselor. I’m originally from Memphis Tennessee, but I am currently living as a student at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. At UAH, I am studying aerospace engineering and I hope one day to work for a major space exploration organization like NASA. In my free time, I work with my university’s Space Hardware Club, play sand volleyball, or go hiking with friends. I am most excited to experience Colorado’s mountains, as west Tennessee is pretty flat. Can’t wait to see you all at camp this year! 🚀

Last week, we hosted Dawson School’s 7th Grade class for their end-of-year trip! 40 students and 10 teachers/chaperones spent 4 days at Highlands reflecting on the literal and metaphorical mountains they’ve climbed this year. Through activities like rock climbing, team building, Hidden Room, hiking, solo time, journaling, and campfire, the group said goodbye to their 7th grade year in style! 🧗🏼🔥

👋 MEET THE STAFF 👋
My name is Taya and I’m a Camp Counselor! I am from Springfield, Virginia and am currently a Junior studying art and art education at George Mason University in Virginia. I have an associates degree in Psychology and specifically focused on child psychology and development. I love all things arts and crafts or any nature-based activities and especially reading! I have been a pet-sitter and house cleaner for the past four years and do a lot of freelancing work while in school. I love learning new things and experimenting with different art forms. Lately I have taught myself woodburning and lino printing and have loved exploring that. I am so excited to work at Highlands this summer and am most looking forward to enjoying being outdoors and having many fun adventures with a bunch of amazing kids and hopefully giving them an amazing self-discovery experience out in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. 🎨

👋 MEET THE STAFF 👋
Hi, my name is Max! I’m a Summer Camp Counselor. I grew up in Wyoming and am currently at the University of Wyoming studying anthropology, which is a lot like studying history if it included everything from prehistoric cavemen to what happened last week! In my free time I enjoy learning new skills, I recently started learning guitar (after also learning how to restring said guitar). Although I am not very technically skilled in everything I know how to do, I enjoy taking on new challenges and learning by doing, which is something I hope to share at Camp this summer! I can’t wait to spend this summer conquering new challenges with everyone! 🎸

Hey, I’m Lowry and I’m a Summer Camp Counselor! I am originally from the Finger Lakes region in rural New York. In August I begin school in pursuit of a Construction Electrician Certification at Red Rocks Community College. I love hiking, skiing, running, climbing, and jumping into alpine lakes with my dog Zuzu! I’m really excited to be working with kids! I will thoroughly enjoy watching them enjoy nature, and work through some of the challenges that naturally come with being outside. Hi, my name is Jamie and I’m a Summer Camp Counselor. I’m from Houston, TX, and I’m currently a Soil and Crop Science student at Colorado State University. 👋 MEET THE STAFF 👋
Hi, I’m Darrian and I’m the Assistant Summer Camp Director! Growing up in rural south Louisiana in the early 90s looked a lot like making mudpies, wearing garter snakes as jewelry, and riding 4 wheelers through the prairie sunsets. After graduating from college with a Bachelor’s in Behavioral Health, I embarked on a life-changing journey to live in the mountains of Colorado. Now I spend my free time backpacking, backcountry skiing, biking, and just about anything else that gets me outdoors. I attribute my technology-free childhood to my deep adoration for our natural world. This summer, I am most excited about creating the magic of camp and watching campers’ connection to the great outdoors grow day by day. 🌼
