🗿 Sculptor Spotlight 🗿

Introducing the incredible artists behind our newest Sculpture Walk exhibit! We’re thrilled to kick things off with Spencer Budd and the inspiring vision behind his piece. Read below and stay tuned to discover more talented sculptors bringing art to life in our community!

“To me this sculpture represents how life works. A change in any decision along the way effects the path and final outcome. Each decision we make creates a trajectory. As we string our decisions together, like each plate of my sculpture, we are making a life, a form, a work of art.”

“Here is a general statement on our my spiral series. -
If I were not human, not imperfect in ex*****on, my spiral sculptures would be nautili, perfect strands of DNA, our solar system traversing space. But I make mistakes, change directions at my own whim. My ability to conceive, construct and assemble deviates from mathematical precision. And yet, these perceived “imperfections” create their own pleasing form, and the process results in a unique and personal outcome.”

We have over 70 artists that were hand-picked to recreate famous works of art who will be performing live at our Masterpieces in Motion gala this Wednesday! 😱🎉 Ballet West Academy, BYU Ballroom Dance Company, Shea Owens, The Allante String Quartet, the King will come, and Wasatch Contemporary Dance are ready to entertain and inspire!

Each artist extra special because they were chosen because they or the arts group they are a part of are searching for a home! Every week, we receive calls and emails from people desperate for space, asking when our project will be completed. Utah County is filled with prolific talent, yet there are no adequate facilities to support them. Our arts campus will be the solution! We can’t wait to share videos for these exciting performances. ✨

There are not words to describe the pain of our loss. Our beloved son, brother, Board Member, and dear friend, David Bell died last night while canyoneering in the Sierra Nevadas. On their last rappel, a friend, got caught in a whirlpool after landing in a pool of water. Another man, jumped in to save her, but they both became trapped. Without hesitation, David leaped in to rescue them—but tragically, all three drowned.

David is a hero.

David was a founding member of Harrington Center for the Arts and beyond his responsibilities as a Board Member, he also served on the Visual Arts Committee, Live Music Committee, and Physical Facilities Committee. David brought joy to hundreds of thousands of runners through the races he organized at his company, Runtastic Events, and through the events at Harrington Center for the Arts. His unmatched creativity shaped every detail, knowing that his work was providing lasting memories for families and unforgettable moments of creativity and triumph as individuals reached new heights.

David deeply cared about the community and giving back. Each of his 11 races supported a local charity, benefiting causes like cancer research, children with autism, mental health, veterans, youth athletics, and the arts. He helped set up every single event for Harrington Center for the Arts, often cleaning up into the early hours of the morning, and devoted thousands of hours to the designs for the renovation of the Harrington School. David has now crossed his final finish line. This week, live like David, love like David, and run for David.❤️
