Ames Choral Society invites you to enjoy the merriest of holiday seasons by attending our winter concert. Featuring music spanning 500 years, the concert celebrates the heritage and longevity of choral music. Old English "Now may we singen," hymn "Jesus Christ the Apple Tree," and Christmas favorite "Carol of the Drum" celebrate the past, while jazzy "Merry Christmas" arranged by Ryan O'Connell, "We Wish You the Merriest!" by Les Brown, and John Rutter's "Christmas Lullaby" are newer additions to our festive library. There will be a sing along of favorite holiday tunes and a reception following the concert.

Tickets are $15 for adults, with children 12 under free. These can be purchased from ACS members, at the door, or online at https://www.zeffy.com/ticketing/283b706b-efb7-4065-8fe5-a937f3568c03

Come join us as we sing through favorite choruses of G.F. Handel's "Messiah" this Saturday, April 13th, from 4 to 5 p.m. The location will be St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 209 Colorado Avenue. All singers and musicians are invited to join us--copies of the music for singers will be available to borrow. If you'd just like to listen, you are welcome to do so!

Ames Choral Society will be sponsoring its "Messiah Sing Along" on April 13, 2024, 4 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 209 Colorado Avenue in Ames. The sing along of most of Messiah’s famous choruses will last approximately an hour. Instrumentalists are also invited to Play Along. Singers who do not have a Messiah score will be provided one for the Sing Along. Those of all ages and abilities are invited.

The Messiah was written by George Frederick Handel to benefit the sick and needy. Even though he was deeply in debt in his personal affairs, he readily accepted the invitation to compose it. It was first performed in April 1742, for charity, and ever since, this priceless legacy has been performed for the benefit of the less fortunate. In the same spirit, an offering will be taken and the proceeds will be donated to The Bridge Home, formerly known as the Emergency Residence Project.

Questions may be directed to Steven Hoifeldt at 515-709-7093 or [email protected].
