‼️REMINDER‼️ This Thursday September 19, Americana/folk group The Two Tracks are taking the stage at the M-Shop at 8pm! Doors open at 7:30 for the SEATED SHOW.

The Two Tracks draw inspiration from the rural surroundings of their home in the foothills of the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming. Their live show features an array of sounds from introspective ballads to foot-stomping anthems that reflect their earthy authenticity and a genuine love for the craft. The band cares about lyrics, story, and the power of the song, and every arrangement is designed to fully highlight that direct connection between the song and the listener.

We are so excited to announce that Des Moines-based band JPWR will be opening for indie-rock band Carver Commodore on Friday September 20 at 8pm!

JPWR is a pop-rock interpretation of the Jinnouchi Power Electric Company's core belief system. The band is deployed around Iowa to perform live "product demonstrations" in which this core message is sonically received. Customers often report physical swaying motions accompanied by nostalgic visions, as well as riff-related neck pains and wet eyes.

Shoutout to our recent graduate and former M-Shop Director and Head Tech Hassein Rife!

Hassein Rife transferred to Iowa State because of The Maintenance Shop. Only a handful of universities across the country have venues comparable to the Maintenance Shop, where ISU students keep the ever-evolving landscape of popular music alive. Rife said he was inspired to apply for the sound tech position after seeing one of his favorite bands, Tiny Moving Parts, perform at the M-Shop in 2017. Rife’s audio engineering talent quickly promoted him to lead sound tech during his time at Iowa State. His tenure taught him that live sound production could be a profession. Now an electrical engineering graduate, he works for Pinnacle Recording and Productions, an Ankeny based audio engineering company.

“I wanted to be at every show, whether I was working or not. You never know what night is going to be a really special experience,” he said.

And you never know where your time spent at the Memorial Union is going to take you! Thank you, Hassein. We enjoyed being part of your story and we know you will continue to do great things.

Originally a maintenance shop, it transformed into the legendary venue we know and love in 1974.
