Our condolences to all the friends and family of Geoff Cyr.

Geoff was the man responsible for reinforcing the floor and base of the Bandstand during the restoration project when he discovered it was collapsing, saving the Bandstand for another generation of Amesbury residents. He will be missed.

Thanks to the members of the Amesbury Cultural Council for their heroic effort in keeping the Pines Music Festival tradition alive, even when the weather doesn't want to cooperate.

Those that made it out we're treated to an intimate acoustic jam session by Ej Ouellette and friends as the sun broke through the clouds, along with pizza, and beer from BareWolf Brewing - Amesbury, MA. All in all, it was a beautiful day in the park.

The show, must go on! Come have a BareWolf Brewing - Amesbury, MA beer under the tents in the Pines and listen to Ej Ouellette and enjoy what mother nature and the hard working folks at the Amesbury Cultural Council has to offer.

So friends, the weather has conspired against us and our original vision of this years music festival has changed dramatically. HOWEVER. BareWolf Brewing - Amesbury, MA is here, Ej Ouellette is is here setting up to play an acoustic set in the beer garden under the tents, and we think this is going to be a really fun memory. Ever want to drink beer in Town Park legally? Well, today is your day!
We are making the best of a soggy situation (even though I am still convinced it is going to clear up) and hope you will join us.

Find My Legislator

You may have seen the news that the proposed level funding to the arts and cultural sector through Mass Cultural Council’s FY18 budget was vetoed in July, which would result in a $1.85 million cut to public funding for culture in Massachusetts if it stands. The House and Senate have the opportunity to override the veto and restore the funding, and bring the state’s investment in arts and culture back to $14 million for FY18.
If there is no override, what would a decrease of $1.85 million mean?

·$402,500 less in funding for the Local Cultural Council Program
· A roughly 13% cut to every LCC’s state allocation
· Fellowships would decrease from $12,000 to $10,000

You can help by contacting your State Representative and Senator this week. Let them know that you support an override of the veto to Mass Cultural Council’s budget (line item 0640-0300).

Warm regards,
Mina Kim
