I am very mobile and I travel throughout Montana often.
I began music lessons in grade school and I have performed professionally since high school age. I studied music at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts and in the University of Maine system, earning a college degree in Music Performance with a Guitar Major. I have performed throughout the U.S. and manage my own band and recording studios.
Recently, I have been gigging in the southwest Montana area and I stay fresh in this type of work. My company can provide live entertainment with a variety of music ensembles. I have extensive experience performing with big band jazz and small ensemble jazz and other genres including bluegrass and rock, composing for, arranging and extensive experience with rhythm sections and horn sections and transposing and writing charts. I have taught music for guitar, piano, bass guitar and voice.
Film/Video Experience
My work as ENG Journalist and Film/Video Producer has always been in the business sector and has been rewarded with commercial success. I was in college work study radio broadcasting with news, sports and music as well as more creative broadcasting, especially with original comedy and music, and that allowed me to continue work in commercial radio and network television, producing 30 second commercials and promos and video slates and bumpers as well as feature length programming and eventually taking film and television production courses at two institutions. I have experience with AVID and all types of production equipment including 16mm film shooting and editing. I ultimately completed a paid college internship in Film & TV Production.
Broadcasting affiliates where I have been employed include:
WMPG FM Gorham, Maine
WDME AM/FM Dover-Foxcroft, Maine
KRSD FM Sioux Falls, South Dakota
KSOO AM Sioux Falls, South Dakota
KTTW FOX TV Sioux Falls, South Dakota
KJAY UHF Channel 42 TV Sioux Falls, South Dakota
KHMT/KSVI FOX/ABC TV Billings, Montana
Soon following film school courses, I worked for Big Sky Video Productions, a well known video production house in Billings, Montana, producing film and video documentaries of motorcycle sports events and many other subjects where as producer and director I worked with camera, lighting, making video log sheets, writing scripts, editing film and video and working with the product sales. I also produced an original cable access TV program for 7 continuous years focusing on eclectic artists with studio interviews and location shooting.
In 2005, I produced a travelogue documentary video of my highway trip from northern Maine to northeast Montana and the Fort Peck Indian Reservation entitled "Pau Wau Trail to Ariel" that was 28 minutes 30 seconds in length. All aspects of preproduction, production and post production including working with nonlinear digital video editor software was done by me. This was a noteworthy event because this production was webcast. My photo and company information subsequently appeared in MovieMaker Magazine Spring 2006 issue Number 62 in the article Montana Rising Making Movies In Big Sky Country on page 131. This was during a period of time when I resided on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation.
I was hired by an internet media company as paid blog writer from May 2009 to September 2011 covering local events of the Billings area with text copy, video and photos and writing internet blog articles for Montana travel and historic interests. Considering my background in original production of blog media, I have also sent this introduction package to postings for an internet media job opening in this area. You can give my resume to others.
From April 2015 to October 2015, I was Assistant Director for an indie motion picture filmed at Bannack State Park Montana and near Helena and other Montana locations. As AD I helped in every aspect of the shooting with camera, lenses, dolly, lighting, audio, script, props and also interacted in many ways as creative consultant to a much less experienced director. While working with this company I also completed a half hour documentary about the Battle of the Little Bighorn filmed near Crow Agency and other Montana locations. My name appears in the credits of the DVD of this production as Assistant Camera.
I video and photograph scenes and events of southwest Montana and all of Montana and Wyoming included in my business and personal travels and maintain a video blog at Gregan Wortmann YouTube Channel. http://youtube.com/greganwortmann
I lettered in high school varsity baseball and track and college varsity soccer and I played baseball in the U.S. Army. I have a valid FAA pilot license for multi-engine land airplanes.
If your office would like to speak to me on the phone, I can call you at a scheduled time convenient for your schedule or you may schedule a time to call me.
Thank you and I will follow up on this.
