I met a real live princess last week ✨

I showed up at the Horse Haven Ranch on Friday in the pouring rain. And I'm talking 'pouring' on a level that Alaska doesn't usually see; 'pouring' that somehow thwarts every manufacturer's claims that something is waterproof and leaves you looking like you just got out of the shower. The kind of 'pouring' that you DO NOT want to happen on your wedding day.

Despite this, I was greeted by Jessica who had donned her Xtra-Tuffs and was beaming beneath a clear umbrella. When I commented on the monsoon that was playing out around us, she smiled, shrugged, and said, "It is what it is."

When I imagine a princess, beauty -- both inside and out -- is a trait that jumps to mind. But it's also joined by things like kindness, warmth, and total strength. Jessica embodies all of these. She stood there, gorgeous in her bridal gown, completely unswayed by the rain because she was just so happy to be marrying her one-and-only, Timothy. The forecast showed more rain for the rest of their day, but soon, as if in a show of honor, the skies parted and we squinted toward a blaring sun.

The best part? Jessica's grandma sent us a rainbow, too.
