During the ASM Global Month of Giving, the Anchorage Convention Centers collected 40 coats and donated 1,086 meals, both benefitting the Anchorage Gospel Rescue Mission, a local organization dedicated to providing a safety net for those who find themselves without food, shelter, clothing or hope. Thank you to all who participated!

The Anchorage Convention Centers along with ASM Global is participating in the Global Month of Giving. We invite you to help us! We are collecting clean, new or gently used jackets, coats and vests. If you have something to give, collection bins are located in the Admin Office at the Dena'ina Center and the Egan Center. Our coat drive will wrap up on December 15. Thank you for your generosity.

We are pleased to showcase Chef Geoff!

After moving around the U.S. as a military dependent, Geoffrey graduated from Service High School in 1996. He earned his Bachelor of Applied Science in Culinary Arts and Food & Restaurant Management from Johnson & Wales University in 2000. Upon returning to Alaska, he spent 12 years at Southside Bistro before becoming the Executive Sous Chef at the Anchorage Convention Centers in 2012. In March 2022, he stepped into the role of Executive Chef.

Outside of the kitchen, Geoffrey enjoys spending time with his wife and kids fishing, camping, and watching football. He loves cooking homestyle meals like soups and stews, blending Southern flavors with family traditions like serving Alatiq (Fry Bread) from his in-laws.

We are pleased to showcase Philippe Janicka.

Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Philippe has called Alaska home for over 30 years. Hospitality runs in his blood, with both parents retiring from the industry. In 1994, he moved north for a summer job bartending with Princess Cruises, and as he likes to say, “Alaska got in his blood.” After helping open the Mt. McKinley Princess Lodge in 1997, he found his career in tourism.

He took a break to manage Southside Bistro for over six years before returning to Holland America-Princess in 2008 as Food & Beverage Operations Manager for Alaska and the Yukon. Today, he is the Director of Food & Beverage at the Dena’ina and Egan Convention Centers, continuing to grow in this exciting industry.

Outside of work, Philippe enjoys fly fishing at his cabin, golfing, and traveling. He shares this life with his wife, Natalie, and their two teenagers.

These familiarization tours encourage these folks to bring their conferences and events to Alaska and give them a taste of our Big Wild Life.
