is a very special place in NY and I am so proud of my niece, my sister and her family who have been part of this camp since it’s initiation. My beautiful niece was honored a leadership award for her hard work at Sunrise, a very special camp, where children with cancer and their siblings attend free of charge. The fundraiser this night raised just shy of 1 million dollars and the contributions help these children have an amazing summer despite their illness, bringing back the joys of childhood, making friends and allowing them a place to relax and enjoy being with their siblings while crafting, swimming, playing sports, and enjoying just being kids!

My heart skipped a beat the moment I saw a candlelit dinner prepared for me on the beach in the Dominican. I laughed and cried and fell into the sand feeling so emotional the moment was dedicated to me. Imagine how your guests will feel when they see The Pop shop at your event? How do we find and select the right venue for your event? We work closely with our clients prior to our walk-thrus to reveal the guest count and budget as well as aesthetic and design (does what we plan to do in the space work with the space or do we need to completely transform it?). We don't just find something that works only within the budget. All three pieces must be considered at each venue we look at in order to make an educated decision to move ahead.
Here are a few other items we consider ....
1. Capacity and Layout-Can the venue accommodate the guest count based on the floor layout? In other words, if you are having a Dance Party, we want to make sure to consider or if you are having a stand up cocktail party vs a sit down dinner, this will change the needs for the room. How is the overall flow?
2.Location and accessibility-how easy is it for guests to reach the venue? Will clients need to bring in guest transportation, does it include parking and are there accommodations nearby for out of of town guests?
3.Restrictions and Amenities-We get a list of their in-house items (av equipment, lighting, tables, linens, chairs, what is included?) Can we bring in any outside vendors we want or are there restrictions? Timing for Pickups and Drop offs (so we know if we need to add in for additional delivery costs).
4. Sneaky Fees-ahhh you didnt notice until it's too late. There is a line item on the bill for their internal fees that are not always made so clear till the final bill. Make sure you are aware of any additional fees. Administration fees can be upward of 22% Do you want a coat check-what is the fee? Passed wine and beer for the first hour-extra fee, Specialty drink (another fee), you want to bring extra guests to the tasting...fees, fees, fees. Just make sure you are clear what these are!

What a year 2023 has been! A quick recap…at the top of the list-I renamed and rebranded my business in March- Slope to Coast Events. I became an empty nester and learned that I have more time to myself, but with that time comes endless guilt so I dedicated some time to donating/volunteering my time and resources. I traveled with my family to Europe and spent my 50th in Tuscany, then celebrating my daughter’s 21st in Paris. My son started his freshman year at NC State (I went to my first college football game) and my husband and I spent lots of time cooking, eating, drinking and taking day trips all around New England!
The hard and ugly truth….I was frustrated at times this year Mel Robbins says that’s because I am growing and I believe that 100%! Most of this came with rebranding-I had no idea how much work it would be to update everything on the back end. Changing all my docs, softwares, processes, financials, communications, and so much more is still something I am working on. I am giving myself a year to have this all done and so far, I am on track. After a busy event season, I took the time this week to sign off social media (and it felt so good) to focus on updating my booking software HoneyBook to reflect the new brand! Can’t wait to share with you!!
I look forward to 2024! Keep your eye out for all the amazing Slope to Coast Events to come! I look forward to bringing more clients more joy in the New Year.

In January, I was changing business entities (yes, for 23 years, I was a sole proprietor). When I went to register my business as an LLC, the name had been taken! So I began a journey.....looking into options to rename the business I so proudly have owned for all these years. I came up with one commonality. ALL MY EVENTS ARE IN NEW ENGLAND! I am here to help navigate the way to producing a perfect event-from the ocean to the mountains. Ahh...a new "star" was born Slope to Coast Events
John Magnifico has been my branding guru and mentor and if it wasn't for him and the swift kick in my ass, I might not have decided to take this leap of faith. This past weekend I spent time with my family in New York. Born in Queens I guess you can’t take the New Yorker out of me. I miss the hustle and bustle and energy. I spent my 20’s pounding the pavement looking for the next acting job and saw the city every hour of the day (mostly on rollerblades🤪). Grateful I had this time and filled with stories to tell my children. I mean, who else could say they did public appearances as Grover for Sesame Street🤣? My husband chuckled as we drove past a movie theatre in Park Slope reminded of the time I fell down the steps or where we dreamed if we had a daughter what we would name her or the time we had a yard sale in prospect park and didn’t sell anything. Tell the stories of your past. Share these memories. These are what made you who you are today❤️

Today I am spending time for myself (did I just say that?) I am committing to the ZEN today. These last few weeks have been so hectic. Are you feeling the Fall crazies too? Events have picked up and starting a second business has sucked the wind out of me. My motivation for taking time for myself? Listening to Jasmine Star podcast interview with author, PHD and Ted Talk Speaker Shadé Zahrai "Harnessing Self Doubt to Take Your Business to the Next Level". Action packed and filled with content. The grooms family living in Australia and with the travel bans in place during the pandemic I was hired to postpone their wedding. Not the first time…the second postponement. Their team of vendors pulled thru and the bride and groom had their beautiful wedding in Newport they have so longed dreamed of with family lovingly by their side. It takes a village (and one seasoned planner) to pull this off!

A private roof deck in The Seaport was the perfect setting for this Engagement Party! The couple resides in California and have a love for travel so I thought what fun it would be to present them with a “Taste of The Seaport” and support local restaurants. The perfect sunset and weather (they brought along with them), delicious food, family from far and near and friends that have supported them thru made for a beautiful evening! Just wait till you see the dessert options (this was only the dinner!)

Whether it's holiday lights or event lights - lighting makes everything look stunning! If you're engaged and looking at venues - don't underestimate the value of lighting. Set the mood by bringing in the right vendors to provide the perfect lighting. Lighting can enhance each and every moment at just the right time. It is so important! What good is the perfect floral with a stunning tablescape if it isn't lit properly? You have probably been rehearsing your first dance since forever - you don't want your guests to miss it in the dark. Trust me, your photographer will thank you for asking your event planner about the best way to light the space ✨ Some ideas we've done at weddings I have planned are: String Lights - these are very popular and easy to add anywhere! Here we used them in grapevine pennants and it added so much wow!!! Pin Spots - Ah, now you can see the menu, centerpiece, table number. Brilliant! Uplighting - cover the walls and ceiling with color changing or static lighting. It adds visual interest to any room! Projection Lighting - You can do so much with this but I love putting your monogram on the dance floor! Table Lighting - Candles, leds, lanterns... use them to set the mood. You do need to check with your venue to see if you can use real candles but don't fret if they say no. There are many beautiful leds out there that are almost as good as the real thing. Happy Thanksgiving! I'm always thankful for my family, most especially, my husband, my kids, and my pups. This year we have had time... time to reflect and spend so much quality time together. It was not fun starting off the year with all of us having Covid. It's made me extremely thankful for our health. It's also a blessing for us all to be together this Thanksgiving. I am always thankful for my clients and this year for my bridal couples to let me help them see thru and find the light for them at the end of the tunnel! After a year of postponement, I was able to plan all these wedding and bring their special day... The other thing I love about Thanksgiving is getting to do fun tablescapes like this! Creating an event logo to tie your décor together is a unique way to tell your story. I had planned Abby's brother's Bar Mitzvah a few years prior and when I met with her she was hoping to have the SAME party as him!! 🤣 (down to the logo and dance floor socks). I knew this event had to reflect HER! For Abby's Bat Mitzvah logo we used pink and navy to reflect her mix of preppy clothing style and the sports she plays (hockey and soccer) in a crest to tie them in together and to make the design cohesive. There are 4 versions of the logo we designed and used throughout the event - an all sport design and then separating the sports into their own design as well as adding in some icons to enhance the overall feel. AS are her initials which were perfect for "All Star" and we cleverly added the stars as the spots on the soccer ball. The logo we created is uniquely Abby and we used it in all her décor from her cake to her favors to the big screen TVs. Nothing helps create the celebration of your dreams like these little personalizations to make it uniquely YOU! I'm so excited to be featured in Martha Stewart giving tips on hosting an outdoor Halloween party! Most of the activities you do at indoor Halloween parties can be seamlessly transferred to an outside celebration! Here are a couple of tips: 🎃 Have plenty of seating. Use cushioned chairs, outdoor lounge pillows, or blanket-covered hay bales are a festive look! 🎃 Bring the fun food stations outside and don't worry if it gets a little messy. Some fun ones I like are s'mores buffets, charcuterie-inspired candy trays, or dipped donut bars. You can even do the Eat A Churro On A String game because the mess is outside!
