During our summer vacation, we visited Bronner's Christmas Wonderland in Frankenmuth, Michigan, which bills itself as the "World's largest Christmas store" with over 7 acres of retail floor space. It will truly put you in the Christmas spirit, no matter the time of year. The picturesque town of Frankenmuth refers to itself as "Little Bavaria" in reference to its German heritage. Well worth a visit if you are ever in east central Michigan!

Ankeny Lights recently traveled to Overland Park, Kansas for Christmas Expo, an annual national gathering of Christmas decorating enthusiasts. In addition to three days of classes on holiday lighting topics, I enjoyed meeting with some of my favorite vendors and fellow lighters on the trade show floor. Among the highlights of the Expo were presentations by the executive producer and past contestants/winners of The Great Christmas Light Fight TV show.

Ankeny Lights attended the Heartland Holiday Light Mini conference in Kansas City this weekend along with some of the coolest lighting folks in the metro and throughout the region. It was a fun day of learning about the latest light show tech (and enjoying some delicious KC barbecue!). We may have also brought back a few new items for this year's show... 😄

12/26/23 Message: Our show is running tonight. However, the additional precipitation we received today did not help with getting things dried out and fully functioning. We're sorry that certain elements are not working. Tomorrow night, 12/27 will be our final show of the year. Thank you so much for your support all season! We'll be back bigger and better in 2024!

New this year-- You can control the show! When at the display, browse to www.ankenylights.com on your phone and tap on a song from our ever-growing catalogue. Requests are played in the order they are received. In the example video below, "Christmas in the Sand" is selected. Note that this feature is active only during our scheduled show hours. Have fun!

We've been working hard this year to build a lot of new elements for the display, including a pixel icicle roofline. We will also have over 40 new songs in our calalogue. Can't wait to share it all with you! We aim to be up and running shortly after Thanksgiving.
