Always been drawn to saving little bits and bobs that others may just throw away (I am that person who's always scooping up little plant segments on the ground at plant nurseries and trying to root them up 😅).

My last couple events until the end of this month were on June 24th, my last June subscriptions were delivered on the 28th. So, after, I had these few floral bits and bobs with no where to go but in this vase where I got to play with embracing the natural shapes of things and had such a good time doing it.

Every year I tell myself I'm going to take a vacation in July, and every year it doesn't happen. I end up working my way through the time I was supposed to set aside to be chilling myself. This year I purposefully (and adamantly lol) set aside a couple weeks this month to slow down - I closed this time in my event books and even turned prospective clients away (which made me sooo uncomfortable but was also kind of invigorating) so that I could finally keep this promise to myself, and I'm so happy I did.

Sooo, a couple more pretty flower pics/vids will be shared on here, and then I'm off for a bit! Next up for me is a teeny road trip and staying at a tiinyy, off the grid a-frame in the middle of the woods - just me and the dogs and lots of tech-free, under the stars, recentering time. 🥰 🐺 🐶

Reminding myself and whoever may need to hear it, that whether you're in a creative field or not, give yourself as many free passes, big or small, to unplug and recharge as you need (this world is busy asf) 😘

Breeze came through for taking some quick shots of Kathleen's bouquet! The flower palette was white with blush, pink and a sprinkling of palest yellow. I was SO excited when the pink peonies started to open and I saw those pale yellow floofs - literally the perfect peony for the day 😍 🌸

A lil' hurried evening harvest ✨ Surprisingly, no bearded iris were bruised in the taking of this shot. Lots of love went into these arrangements to celebrate the life of a fellow flower lover who recently passed. My client asked for "a riot" of vibrancy, color, and cheery seasonal flowers without a shred of traditional funeral vibes - it was an honor to do my best to supply an uplifting undertone to the day through the flowers. 💐

I've become newly obsessed with columbine and orlaya this season for their ability to make any arrangement instantly magical with their fairy garden qualities 🧚‍♂️ Three long standing favorites of mine - geum, nigella and dicentra (bleeding hearts) - also have this effect annnd it just so happens that all four of these awesome specialty ingredients are in the first photo 😍 Spring is such an incredible time! Always so grateful that the local flower growing game is so strong that I as a designer get to arrange beautiful things for my clients using such outstanding + fresh ingredients 💖 😭 🙏

Citrus appreciation post 🍊🧡 First time playing with wire in florals where the intention was that the metal itself be seen along with what it's supporting (normally wires are sneakily tucked inside ranunculus stems or some such for hidden support 🤫). My favorite art across mediums as always been the kind where the longer you look, the more you notice - and there's always more to notice. It feels kind of like a little treasure hunt just for you. For this arrangement, I really enjoyed the visual layers - at first glance, you may notice the tulips and ranunculus first, then the vase, then the citrus slices and cutie violas, and just when you think you've noticed everything - there they are! Unexpected metallic zigzags here and there. 💛🧡🩷

Hannah & Griff wanted their wedding flowers to include ingredients reminiscent of their time living in Australia - birds of paradise, pincushion protea, anthurium, craspedia, eucalyptus and more. I was only too happy to work with this sweet couple, incredible ingredients, and fearless colors. 💕 Jasmine, hellebore, sweet pea and reflexed tulips were the sprinkles on top ✨

January's post is up (link in bio) and is an extremely short and sweet summary of this year's "design curiosities" - various floral art areas I'll be exploring all year (just pluggin' along on this self-taught floral design adventure I find myself on! 🥂).
I managed to choose just three focuses for the year, which will be subtly featured in all (noncustom) arrangement orders in 2023:

For their wedding day, Mari + Adam asked for tons of texture in their floral arrangements, as well as a focus on seasonal ingredients + lots of yummy contrast. These were such a fun challenge for me!! 💖 Big s/o to for growing these most amazing, chrysanthemum-esque marigolds that were ✨ the perfect ✨ color (+ for letting me come out to her beautiful farm to cut tons of them!) 💛🤎💛

Similar but different ✨ The first bouquet is Emma's from her September wedding, while the second bouquet is Hannah's from her June wedding. Similar style + color palette, but pretty different seasonal, locally grown ingredients in each one - it's super cool to see how Spring + Autumn kind of compare in this way!
