Listening to you body is a must.

Why?

Because your body (gut brain) knows better what is going on than your (head) brain.

Sounds crazy right?

I know but we have been so conditioned to listen to our minds and ignore everything else!

Just recall the last time you had to make a decision. Your body instinct told you to do this one thing…then all of a sudden,uninvited, your mind comes in steering you away from that initial message.

Giving you all the reasons why you should do something else.
So you followed your head and regretted it.

The mind there to process information for you not to make decisions…. Trust your body… it knows

Cravings: lately I have been craving black beans

Generally speaking cravings are your body’s way of letting you know that it needs something or that there is some deeper health issue.

They can be brought on by various mental/emotional or physical factors.

For example, craving nonfood items, such as ice, dirt, or laundry detergent, may be a sign of low levels of iron, zinc, or calcium.

Obviously continuing to consume these non food items is not advisable, however, being aware of these cravings and going deeper to find out the ‘why’ is the point here.

Here is a generalized list of cravings and what the body could possibly be lacking:

Sugary foods-chromium, phosphorus.

Burnt or toasted foods-carbon

Salty foods- trace minerals

Carbs- energy

Dairy-essential fatty acids

Chocolate- magnesium

Beans- iron

Red meat- iron/B12

Many people struggle with the idea of going plant based even though they are aware of the massive health benefits.

Sometimes it’s because they don’t know where to start, what to shop for or what to cook.

If you are new to this lifestyle you really don’t have to reinvent the wheel… go with themes, Mexican Monday, Taco Tuesday, Fast food Friday, or just veganize some of your favs, I’m sure you are catching what I’m throwing 😉.

Mushrooms are a great sub for meat because of their texture or including tofu every once in a while, like this yummy jerk tofu pictured here 😋.
