Astrophotography is always a delicate process, between the weather, the light pollution, and the moon. Shortly after sunset, we parked our cars at the top of a mountain pass and laid blankets out on the ground while we waited for it to get dark enough to see the Milky Way. Normally, sitting in the dark for over an hour would be boring, but we had such great conversations with Kaitlyn and Sheldon.
There was a distant thunderstorm across the mountains, in the exact direction we knew the Milky Way would be. We worried that maybe it would block our view, but instead, it cleared the air for the most vivid view of the Milky Way we've ever seen!
