There are a lot of thank yous that need to go out. The 39th Annual Poke Salat Festival was brought to you by volunteers, vendors, food vendors, bands, singers, performers and the community that dodged the rain and came to the Festival. It takes all of these to make this happen.
But I would be amiss if I did not give a very special heartfelt thank you to Joyce.
There is so much that goes into planning and implementing a Festival. I’m lucky that I get to spend all that time with my best friend, running ideas by each other, making “what ifs” into reality.
This year Joyce, without hesitation, stepped up and handled way more than her share - without one complaint. I had an unexpected health issue and surgery in the last two weeks that took me out of action for the better part of a week and relegated me to my chair in the information booth for the majority of the Festival. Joyce handled so much of everything going on, and walked continuously all day yesterday.
Y’all, this wouldn’t have worked without her energy and dedication. Thank you doesn’t seem big enough, but from the bottom of my heart - I appreciate and love you!!

Poke Salat Festival May 20
Axecessive Axe Throwing will be at the Festival and you can try your skills at throwing axes!
A safety instructor will work with each thrower and supervise the event. Anyone over 14 can throw.
Everyone who throws must sign a liability waiver, with those under 18 being required to have a parent or quardian present and sign on their behalf.
