I have vitiligo and it’s beautiful 🌸
Today is World Vitiligo Day and for the first time in a while, I am feeling confident in my skin.
I’m a floral designer, gardener, and floral preservation artist and use my polka dot hands all the time. I find myself hiding them behind my flowers a lot.
Today- they are the spot light.
I was diagnosed with vitiligo as a little girl and only had a couple couple little patches.
As I got older, I gained a few more patches.
Over the last three years after I turned 40 I started to get a lot more patches.
They are primarily on my hands and now some around my mouth.
The ones on my hand started out gradually and now there’s polkadots everywhere.
It’s progressing pretty quickly and it’s very hard to slow down.
I’ve learned to love my little polkadots. Some of them look like hearts, and I think that’s just the cutest thing ever. I do struggle with the vitiligo around my mouth. I’m very self-conscious about it and find myself wearing lipstick a lot more than I ever did in my life.
This is something that I’m learning to deal with and it’s just one more thing to feel self-conscious about as you get older.
Gray hairs, wrinkles, stretch, marks, weight gain, bags under the eyes, and now vitiligo or just parts of who I am and what I look like as I get older.
Learning to love myself is just is just so necessary.
I’m thankful for being able to find a community of others here on social media with vitiligo. They really help encourage me to love my skin.
@mckylamariposa is someone I have really been encouraged by for several years now. The way she loves her skin and shares her vitiligo has made me see how beautiful mine is. Thank you so much for always being so positive and encouraging.
If you are struggling with vitiligo, know that you are not alone and that you are beautiful.
There are approximately 1 in 100 people who live with vitiligo- so you are not alone.

“That’ll do donkey, that’ll do.”
Throwing a Shrek themed birthday party for our nine-year-old daughter Ruby is probably one of the funniest things we’ve done in a minute.
I’m a floral designer and I work in the Wedding industry but I tell you throwing birthday parties for my kids is one of my passions. Getting into the theme as much as I can is one of those things that I do and can always be expected from me at a birthday party.
This year, however, it was my husband who stole the spotlight. When I suggested that he dressed up as Shrek and get attacked by a bunch of nine-year-olds with water, balloons, and slime, he was all game.
Can’t thank him for being such a good sport and for being the best dad!
Ruby loves making slime as most kids her age do and it’s just one of those things that she’s obsessed with. So slime and Shrek just kind of went hand-in-hand, wouldn’t you say?
We had a a slime making station where all their little charms were fairytale characters and they were trying to get them in the slimy swamp.
Then we decorated gingerbread men or gingerbread ladies, It was great fun.
Of course we pinned the tail on donkey! We had to get him to shut up somehow.
For party favors, the kids got more slime, tattoos, and stickers, of course, and gingerbread gummy’s with gum drops in little Duloc Castles.
No Shrek party is complete without ogre ear headbands!
But hold on definitely not a Shrek party if you don’t have a grumpy ogre who has just been woken up from his nap. Brock dressed up as Shrek and it was the best. He nailed it. The kids nailed him with water balloons, and then Ruby got to slim him in the very end.
what a party! What a show!
Happy birthday to our sweet, sassy, silly, just plain all Rad Ruby!
We love you toot.
Thank you to @ramonesbakery for making this cute cake and giving me exactly what I wanted.

Anyone else struggle with Imposter Syndrome?
What is it exactly?
It’s when you feel like “a fraud” or “a phony” and doubt your abilities and what you are capable of doing. When you are a creative and feel like your art isn’t good enough and you constantly compare yourself to others.
With social media it’s almost near impossible to not feel this way!
I’m always thinking about how I wish I had the talent other artists have and while I know they have way more experience and have amazing talent; I am also talented in my own way.
It’s just hard to see that.
But I have been telling myself that I am capable, I am talented, I am tough and I am a force in my own way. These lyrics make me feel stronger 💪too and give me the courage and confidence to keep going!
Yesterday I planted the annuals in the garden. I have not had any motivation for it and the seedlings this year look terrible. However, in a few months there will be glorious flowers again and I will stare in awe at them, stare in awe at the work that I did and made happen and feel so accomplished with myself instead of down on myself for the things I lack.
Once again just believing in myself ✨
This is also not a pity party post; it’s meant to share how to deal with imposter syndrome.
So just remember- you are capable, you are strong, you are a force, you are a dreamer and never stop believing in yourself ✨

And I want you right here.
What an honor and blissful privilege to finally live out this fantasy of mine.
To live this life with someone I love and the family we created on this piece of land.
Where wisteria grows wild now and one day will take over this home and grow right over my bare feet.
When I heard this song by Taylor Swift these lines spoke to me more then any other lyric before.
This is the life I have dreamt of and today I am so thankful for it.
Wishing you a lovely Sunday filled with blissful moments.

To be content in life is the best gift one can ask for. Today I turn 43 and I usually like to reflect on my life and dream of the future but today- I am just content to be. I don’t have to much on my mind and too much to say except that I am so thankful for the life that I live and those I live it with and the place where I live it.
My husband @brockn.roll is my absolute best friend in this world. My kids are my everything and my best legacy I will leave to this world. This land that I call home continues to make me fall in love everyday. I’m loving the life I always dreamt of and for once- I just want to take it in and be content.
Thank you to all of you for your constant support and love on this floral path and for making this chapter of my life a total dream to add to my life memoirs.
I love this little life and all of you who are part of it.

Walking in hope the last couple days because of you. I finally shared some struggles I have been going through for a while because it started to affect my floral business. Now, I didn’t want to share about the hopeless I was feeling lately due to physical pain and the ongoing search in the medical world for answers.
Unfortunately this Friday I was forced to cancel the one workshop I had planned this season due to my physical pain and lack of mobility. I had to share on my social media so that I can announce the cancellation of multiple events the rest of this year due to this health issue.
I was afraid to even say something BUT oh my goodness. You al#came in and lifted me up. I cannot believe the love and support you all gave me. I was literally in a place of sadness and your encouragement and suggestions gave me so much hope. I can’t begin to thank you enough.
I started a round of prednisone steroids that day to help alleviate the inflammation pain that the ibuprofen was not helping with and within that hour of messages coming in the pain started to die down and I had so many amazing suggestions of healing that I want to and am going to try.
I just want to share this because so many of us don’t want to share the unpretty stuff here on social media. When you work in an industry like mine where it is always beautiful, who wants to hear about the ugly? Well, we are all humans and struggle in many different ways. We need to be lifted up in light and prayers. As a Christian I have been praying hard and your prayers and loving thoughts are everything to me. I feel God working through me and helping me up out of that dark place.
I have some plans and things I will be trying to heal and one of them is to see a naturopath along with a endocrinologist to get the best of both worlds.
I just want to share this with you all so if anyone is struggling alone- just tell someone. It can make such a difference to just share your pain.
John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you;
Falling in love again and again in the redwood forests of Northern California. Runaway and elope here in Humboldt County and experience the magic of this special place.
There is no better time then autumn here on the north coast. Well technically it’s beautiful all year round and you will get the most magical experience no matter what. Redwoods grow to be the majestic giants they are because of our special misty climate up here. The redwoods thrive with mist and we just get to sit here in the awe of it all.
Sunshine, misty, snowy, even rainy- it’s always beautiful and I am here to make it even more so with whimsical flowers.
There is no better place for a enchanting whimsical wedding then the forest and I should know because 18 years ago my husband and I were wed in the redwoods. Imagine Braveheart, foxgloves, and Lord of the Rings all rolled up together. It was magical and I can make your day just as magical if not more.
We have so many talented vendors here in Humboldt county so don’t miss out.
MMF is here to make your floral dreams come true- 2024 is filling up and 2025 is fully open.

Dreamy florals and weddings just go hand in hand,
but staying within a reasonable budget isn’t always the easiest.
There is no denying it and I won’t lie to you:
flowers are pretty expensive and if you want lots of flowers be prepared to spend lots of 💰
If you have a lower floral budget and want lots of flowers here are my tips:
-Forget about lot of personal flowers, get your bouquet and your maids but forget about boutonnière’s and corsages.
Or have a smaller bridal party
-Bud vases go a long way for centerpieces. If you still want the full centerpiece look- then get a smaller amount for tables and mix with bud vases on others to bring your budget down
- ceremony florals are where the money really should go. If there is any way that you can repurpose your ceremony flowers for your reception, then do so. But let me tell you this, certain flowers for your ceremony are designed accordingly for your ceremony. So they won’t be repurposed successfully because they won’t be designed for the reception. If that makes any sense. Basically when you are in the design process with your florist, make sure that what you are repurposing works for both your ceremony and the reception.
Also- a sweet and whimsical design such as the one in this reel creates a beautiful aesthetic for your ceremony, and can be done for an affordable price, depending on the flowers that are used. It’s all about your stem count and floral choices. The more stems you have and more expensive flowers you have, then the more expensive your design it will be.
- One of the best ways to obtain lots of flowers for your special day is to let your florist run with the design and choose what works for your wedding by using seasonal and local flowers. Trust your florist.
There are many other ways to keep your flowers within budget, but do you remember that flowers are not cheap and they will cost. This is an art form, and a luxury and worth every penny if you love flowers.
If you were still s
