It is an honor and joy for us to support the important work of , and we are excited to announce that we will again partner with Viator House for our next exhibition. “Journey Beyond Hope” will take place throughout the month of February and showcase the art and stories of three young immigrant artists whose drawings and paintings vividly reflect their journeys as refugees. We invite you to explore their artwork and join us for a series of events designed to deepen your understanding of Viator House’s mission.

“Journey Beyond Hope” will be on view throughout the month of February. Come by during our open gallery hours to see this powerful artwork, or join us at one of two special events at the end of the month. We are hosting a book talk and panel discussion featuring the editor and contributing authors of the newly published book “Kids in Cages” on Sunday, February 23rd at 4pm. On Friday, February 28th at 7pm we will celebrate “Journey Beyond Hope” with a closing reception and cultural concert, it will be a night you won’t want to miss!

Viator House of Hospitality provides compassionate care to young male immigrants seeking asylum. At Viator House, over twenty young men have the opportunity to learn English, attend school, find employment, and adjust to life in the U.S. while awaiting their immigration proceedings. Through their art, our three featured artists share their personal experiences as refugees, offering a powerful glimpse into their lives. We encourage you to visit and experience their work next month, it will be an unforgettable show 🖤

We are honored to be one of the few locations in the Chicago suburbs that offer the opportunity to meet and take photos with a , we love when he comes to visit and spends time making magical memories for kids!! Our favorite Black Santa will be at for Storytime with Santa on Sunday, December 15th at 3:30pm, we hope you can bring the family and join us for this special afternoon! Santa will read a Christmas story by the tree before every child will have the opportunity to meet and take festive photos with Santa! will provide professional photos that will be sent to you 48 hours after the event, Kristie from is baking up delicious cookies for all of the kids and our friends at will set up some comfy seating for the kids – it is going to be so festive and fun!

Join us (and bring your friends and neighbors!) for a fun night of crafting just in time for the holidays! Create upcycled sustainable upcycled ornaments with our friend and local artist Amy Sobin – it will be a festive evening and a great chance to unwind with scissors and a hot glue gun.

You will create your own holiday ornaments with upcycled and thrifted materials, such as CDs, buttons, and old paper and photos. Give these materials a new life and add them to your decor! Amy will demonstrate various techniques for working with the materials and then the rest is up to your imagination!

Santa Clause is coming back to The Empty Corner just in time for Christmas, you won’t want to miss our popular Storytime with Santa this December! Come in your holiday best, Christmas jammies, or just as you are for a fun afternoon with Santa! Our White Santa will be visiting for one day only on Saturday, December 7th for two Storytime seatings at 2:00 PM and 3:30 PM. Santa will read a story and our friends from will take pictures with Santa and the children afterwards while treats will be available to enjoy! These festive photos will be delivered via email within one week of the event, just in time for Christmas!
