Recognizing a need for greater access and representation in the outdoors for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, Rue Mapp developed Outdoor Afro in 2009. Their mission is to share opportunities and build a broader community and leadership in nature. Each year, Outdoor Afro connects thousands of Americans to recreation and conservation experiences outdoors, and Mapp remains a highly sought-after speaker and thought leader around diversity, access, and representation in outdoor spaces.

A great new resource at Arlington Public Library! 📚⬇️

The Arlington Public Library has a new collection of large print books designed to help children who may have difficulty reading because of visual impairment, dyslexia, neurodivergent learning needs or other challenges.

The new juvenile collection features 142 titles, including the popular “Diary of a Wimpy Kid,” books by Rick Riordan, who is the author of the “Percy Jackson” series, and award-winning titles such as “Hello Universe” and “Esperanza Rising.” Learn more: https://bit.ly/3XfGrqM

Midnight is a one-year-old Labrador Retriever mix. She is a sweet and loving pooch. While she does have some youthful energy, she is very calm for her age and settles down easily.

Robert Taylor set out in the 1990s to complete the Pacific Crest Trail and the Appalachian Trail. While Taylor’s challenges on the PCT pertained primarily to weather & wildlife, he often faced racial discrimination from fellow thru-hikers and locals while hiking the A.T. Despite obstacles, Taylor completed his thru-hikes and is believed to be the first Black hiker to finish both long trails.

EVENT UPDATE: Dottie's Cars & K9's event has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 12.

Due to weather, Cars & K9's has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 12, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The registration deadline has been pushed to March 24.

Whether you’re into classic or modern cars, come share your passion for all things automotive at Cars & K9’s! Show off your build, connect with your neighbors, and enjoy a day filled with cool rides and awesome dogs.
