Walking the Inka trail, Machu Picchu, Peru. It’s been amazing. The sun was out when we arrived and then the cloud forest was true to its name. The clouds rolled in and the rain began but nothing could dampen my joy.

When a little girl wants to wear her grandmother’s 1940’s First Communion Dress for her same commitment ceremony, you find a way to make that happen. In this case, to expand the dress, I made pin-tucks in organza to match the dress fabric and pleats and sewed the panel on the left side next to the buttons. The main dress is so fragile, removing the original buttons would have left holes in the fabric so I researched like buttons and found some of matte ivory 3/8” wide. They aren’t an exact match but from the same era and compliment the original ones. I then added a double row of lace at the neck, and it fits her so well it now grazes the floor! Let’s hope she grows a tad taller.

Snow makes me think of the gown I designed for Alexandra’s NYE wedding. The multi-shaped pearl overlay with three-quarter length sleeves fit like a glove over the ivory silk gown, paired with a cathedral train of pearls and crystal beads... stunning.
