Back at the Donkey Welfare Symposium today! A very interesting discussion this morning about donkey rescues rehoming donkeys and what their hurdles and goals are. I was very surprised to hear that across the board, every rescue was saying they would prefer to rehome a donkey to a home that doesn't know anything about horses. Horse's and donkey's needs are so incredibly different and ignoring these specific needs can be detrimental. When I first considered my first donkey, embarrassingly, I assumed they can just live with my mini horse and be a horse. A donkey is not a horse. If your donkey is one of your horses... you are likely neglecting you donkey.

Donkey vacation! Off to the Donkey Welfare Symposium tomorrow to learn more about these fine little creatures. When I started this journey, I thought they were just dumb little horses who refused to learn. They sure made an ass out of me!
