How do you store your data?
As I film a lot in high resolution, I need to store multiple terabytes of footage, including some in 12K RAW format. Important projects that are still in progress, I store on two or more hard drives. In the past, I used to purchase portable 5TB drives to archive footage, and now I have over 30 portable hard drives, around 10 external 3.5" hard drives, and 6 internal drives in my PC.

This year, I invested in an 8-bay NAS storage system with eight 20TB hard drives configured in RAID 6. This setup allows for the failure of up to two drives simultaneously while maintaining data integrity. In total, I now have over 100TB of storage in my home NAS system, which cost me around $3,000.

Having worked in video production for many years, I've witnessed numerous hard drive failures for various reasons, regardless of brand or price. All drives can fail eventually. A friend of mine, also in video production, recently had a drive failure and lost important footage. A data recovery company quoted him $6,000 for recovery, with no guarantee of success.

I want to remind everyone to back up important data on two or more drives, ideally in separate locations, and consider using cloud storage as well. SSDs can fail too. On my cameras, I usually record onto two memory cards simultaneously because even memory cards can fail. Hard drives are much cheaper these days, especially when compared to the cost of data recovery.
