My friends over at You Don't Know Jersey have feature my new music video for “Mall Madness,” produced in collaboration with 10PRL and released on Mint 400 Records.
Alice and I were recently in Philadelphia for a show and instead of driving back to Bloomfield decided to stay the night at a hotel back over the NJ border in Voorhees. That following morning Asbury Park musician Brian Erickson DMed us about an Instagram story we put up which in turn turned into an....

I haven’t heard Brian Erickson, but I’ve definitely heard of him

I made an NFT. This is not a joke.
I mean...I guess the fact that Brian Erickson has an NFT *is* kind of a joke. But I know you know what I mean. Details forthcoming.

Since Brian Erickson wasn’t nominated for a Grammy™️ this year, he will be throwing his support behind Dua Lipa.

“I couldn’t really communicate how I was dealing, or rather NOT dealing...instead of looking for support, I put everything away.”
The real reason my new (old) album was shelved, and so much more in my most recent interview with The Aquarian Weekly!

“What’s amazing is Brian’s solo recordings have this vibe, style and sound all it’s own...separate from the songs he writes for his band The Extensions.”
Thank you for the kind review of my latest release ‘Origami Birds’ (AVAILABLE NOW).
So full disclosure I run a record label and I’ve come to an agreement with Blood Makes Noise to let me promote releases every week. The idea is every we...

Respect must be paid to Daughterboard Audio who mastered the upcoming record. I always enjoy working with Elaine, who makes it all look so easy (spoiler: it’s not).
Can’t wait for everyone else to hear it on 02.12.2021!

Brian Erickson: two great t-shirts. One just-okay human being.

In 2011, I recorded a short album called ‘Origami Birds.’ Was supposed to release it in 2013 but it got shelved...until now! On February 12, 2021, Mint 400 Records will release it.
Seven songs in just 14 minutes! And just like that, I’ll have released my second album in just five months which is pretty cool to me. Cooler still that this decade-old album is finally coming out.
Because it was so long ago, I don’t have many photos (and no video at all) from the recording sessions. But I’ll be working with my friends over at Frosted Green Productions on a video for the song “Thunderproof,” and if you behave yourselves, we might even get some new t-shirts, too!
For now, here’s the cover art which is a public domain image whose layout was done by Neil Sabatino.

Brian Erickson resolves to take the pressure off and really let himself go, physically, this year.

Thanks to Makin Waves for including me in The Dirty Jersey Dozen this year for my work as a solo artist as well as my contributions to Demos for a Difference.
Really appreciate Bob’s support over the years.
This very odd and evil year plagued the world with deadly and crippling challenges against which the New Jersey music scene illustrated the Garden State’s legendary resilience. In honor of that resilience, the annual Makin Waves Dirty Jersey Dozen is not so much about the acts who made the most wa...

If people were as enthusiastic about Brian Erickson as they are about not getting vaccinated, I’d be an extremely wealthy individual.
Also, Merry Christmas.

Because of all the generous support from everyone this year, I’ve finally managed to crack $100 in earnings.

Hey all, this humble little instrumental song is currently sitting at 970 plays on Spotify. I’m hoping we can push it over the 1,000 mark.
If we can get it there this weekend, I’ll release a video on Monday!

The Asbury Park Press has named the Telegraph Hill Records version of “Waitin on a Sunny Day” as one of its 14 Best Jersey Songs of 2020.
I’m really happy to have been a part of such a beautiful collaboration. Especially early on when things seemed, if you could believe it, even *more* uncertain.
As always, Joe Pomarico put together a daunting number of disparate tracks and made it all fit together brilliantly! And it’s great to get to play on a song with some of my favorite people, too!
The coronavirus outbreak didn’t stop the music in New Jersey.

Really nice to wake up to the news that my album ‘Little Secrets’ made the Makin Waves Top 20 NJ Indie Albums of the Year list!
Thanks to Neil at Mint 400 Records, KL at 3143 Artist Management, and Jeff at Aqualung Records for making sure this thing went off without a hitch.
And thank you to Elaine at Daughterboard Audio for helping make the whole thing sound so, so wonderful!
Here’s a look at the 10 best independent New Jersey LPs & EPs to cross my desk in what surprisingly was a great year for recorded music from the Garden State. There’s also 10 honorable mentions of additional great releases. All are self-released unless indicated by an indie label.

Thanks to Jim Testa over at NJ.com for letting me add my two cents re: Thanksgiving.
“I’m thankful for the continued health of my loved ones. I’m grateful for the opportunity to make art and that our local community has -- despite continued difficulties -- found new and creative ways to continue lifting one another up as best it can. Even if we can’t all be in the same room together, it still feels like I’m ‘part of it.’ And when the world is in such an uncertain place, that sense of community can really bring a level of peace that nothing can take away.”
Columnist Jim Testa offers his own thanks and asks others for their thoughts.

Check out this great piece by MAGNET Magazine on Elaine Rasnake; musician and Daughterboard Audio engineer who mastered my new album!
Like the majority of you, all of us in the Philadelphia area are staying at home, learning to adapt to our “new normal.” MAGNET is checking in with local musicians to see how and what they’re doing during this unprecedented time. Photos by Chris Sikich. Rasnake: I had plans to go on tour in Ap...

Brian Erickson is not a robot. But with a tireless work ethic that keeps him busy nearly every night of the week, it’s an easy mistake to make. As a musician, Brian is most prolific as a solo artist, playing about fifty dates a year. When he’s not doing that, he’s fronting his band, The Extensions, contributing articles to regional culture blog You Don’t Know Jersey, hosting his weekly talk show One More w/ Brian Erickson, or co-hosting The Great Albums Podcast - all work for which he has been formally recognized.
